Մեծ Տանն Կիլիկիո Արամ Ա կաթողիկոսը նամակ է հղել Կիպրոսի Հանրապետության եւ խորհրդարանի նախագահներին եւ շնորհակալություն հայտնել Հայոց ցեղասպանության ժխտումը քրեականացնող օրինագծի ընդունման կապակցությամբ: Կաթողիկոսը խորհրդարանի որոշումն անվանել է պատմական: «Մեծ ուրախությամբ իմացանք, որ Հայոց ցեղասպանության 100-րդ տարելիցի առթիվ Կիպրոսի խորհրդարանը միաձայն պատմական որոշում ընդունեց, համաձայն որի Հայոց ցեղասպանության ժխտումը համարվում է քրեական հանցանք: Մենք երբեք չենք մոռանա, որ 1975թ. Կիպրոսի խորհրդարանը` աշխարհում երկրորդը, պաշտոնապես ճանաչեց Հայոց ցեղասպանությունը: Այս ուրախ առիթով մեր ժողովրդի անունից խորը շնորհակալություն եւ բարձր գնահատանք եմ հայտնում Կիպրոսի խորհրդարանին այս պատմական որոշման համար: Այս քաջ որոշումն արդարության եւ մարդու իրավունքի նկատմամբ Կիպրոսի հանրապետության զորեղ հանձնառության շոշափելի արտահայտություն է: Հույն եւ հայ ազգերի գործակցությունը խորապես արմատացած է պատմության մեջ: Մեծապես կենսական է, որ ներկա ժամանակաշրջանում, երբ մարդկային իրավունքները տեւականորեն խախտվում են, մենք շարունակենք մեր գործակցությունը վերանորոգ ճիգով` հանուն արդարության եւ մարդկային արժանապատվության:

Բարձրյալին կաղոթենք, որ Կիպրոսի Հանրապետությունը պաշտպանի նոր ժամանակների չարիքներից եւ նրան առաջնորդի դեպի առավել առաջադիմություն եւ բարգավաճում»,- ասված է նամակում:

Ապրիլի 2-ին Կիպրոսի խորհրդարանը միաձայն ընդունել է Հայոց ցեղասպանության ժխտումը քրեականացնող օրինագիծը: Համաձայն օրինագծի ցեղասպանությունները, մարդկության դեմ ու պատերազմական ժամանակաշրջանում հանցագործությունները ժխտողները կազատազրկվեն 5 տարի ժամկետով եւ կվճարեն 10.000 եվրո տուգանք:
