Սիրիայում ներքին պատերազմի պատճառով Թուրքիա գաղթած տասնյակ հազարավոր սիրիացիներ հայտնվել են ծայրահեղ աղքատության եւ անելանելի դրության մեջ:

Անդրադառնալով Թուրքիայում սիրիացի փախստականների աղետալի վիճակին, գերմանական Der Stern հանդեսը գրում է, որ խիստ վատ տնտեսական վիճակում հայտնված սիրիացի աղջիկներն ու կանայք թուրք տղամարդկանց կողմից գնվում են որպես երկրորդ, երրորդ, նույնիսկ` չորորդ կին:

«1800 եվրոյով սիրիացի երկրորդ կին» վերնագրով հոդվածում հանդեսը գրում է, որ նման խայտառակ «ամուսնության» սիրիացի կանայք հարկադրված դիմում են ծայրահեղ աղքատությունից:

Հանդեսը գրում է, որ չնայած Թուրքիայում բազմակնությունն օրենքով արգելվում է, սակայն արդեն 372 հազար կին հայտնվել են նման վիճակում, իսկ այդ երկրում ամուսնությունների ընդհանուր թվում մեկից ավելի կնոջ հետ ամուսնությունները կազմում են 7 տոկոս:
