Հյուսիսային  եւ Հարավային Ամերիկաները պահպանում են հակամարտություններից զերծ գոտու կարգավիճակը եւ ավելի ու ավելի են նվիրված ժողովրդավարությանը եւ մարդու իրավունքների հարգմանը: Այս մասին ապրիլի 11-ին հայտարարել Է ՄԱԿ-ի գլխավոր քարտուղար Պան Գի Մունը:

Պանամայում ելույթ ունենալով Ամերիկաների գագաթնաժողովում՝ նա նշել Է տարածաշրջանի երկրների նվաճումները, բայց նրանց կոչ Է արել ավելի մեծ առաջ ընթացի հասնելու թմրամաքսանենգության եւ այլ հիմնախնդիրների դեմ պայքարում: 

«Ամբողջ (Արեւմտյան) կիսագնդում մենք տեսնում ենք մի տարածաշրջան, որն ավելի ու ավելի Է նվիրված խաղաղությանը, ժողովրդավարությանը, մարդու իրավունքներին եւ միասնացմանը, ինչպես նաեւ կայուն զարգացմանը: Այս բոլոր տարրերը նույնացնում են Միավորված ազգերի երեք գլխավոր սյուները (անվտանգություն, մարդու իրավունքներ եւ զարգացում) եւ գտնվում են այս գագաթնաժողովի ուշադրության կենտրոնում»,- ասել Է ՄԱԿ-ի վարչական ղեկավարը:  

«Տարածաշրջանը պահպանում Է խաղաղության գոտու կարգավիճակը,- շարունակել Է Պան Գի Մունը:- Ամերիկաները հաղթահարում են երկարատեւ տարաձայնությունները՝ կերտելով պատմություն, ինչի վկան ենք մենք դառնում այս դահլիճում: Առաջին անգամ (Ամերիկյան պետությունների կազմակերպության) բոլոր 35 անդամ երկրները մասնակցում են գագաթնաժողովին»: Նա նշել Է Կուբայի Պետխորհրդի եւ Նախարարների խորհրդի նախագահ Ռաուլ Կաստրոյի, ինչպես նաեւ ԱՄՆ-ի նախագահ Բարաք Օբամայի ներկայությունը դահլիճում, որոնք ապրիլի 11-ին միմյանց ձեռք են սեղմել:

«Ես հուսով եմ, որ տարածաշրջանը կշարունակի հենվել երկխոսության վրա տարաձայնությունները կարգավորելիս. ինչպես պետությունների միջեւ, այնպես Էլ դրանց ներսում»,- ընդգծել Է գլխավոր քարտուղարը:

Գլխավոր քարտուղարը նաեւ ուշադրություն Է հրավիրել այն հաջողությունների վրա, որոնք ամերիկյան պետությունները ձեռք են բերել աղքատության դեմ պայքարում, եւ նրանց կոչ Է արել շարունակելու ցուցաբերել առաջատար դեր կլիմայի փոփոխման հիմնախնդրի լուծման գործում, հաղորդել Է ՏԱՍՍ-ը:
