Եվրամիությունը կարևորում է Հայաստանի հետ համագործակցության շարունակումը և շահագրգռված է խորացնել հետագա համագործակցությունը Հայաստանի հետ:

Այս մասին Ազգային ժողովում «Արեւելյան գործընկերության Ռիգայի գագաթաժողովին ընդառաջ» թեմայով խորհրդարանական լսումների ընթացքում ասաց ԵՄ հայաստանյան պատվիրակության ղեկավար Տրայան Հրիսթեան: «Անցած 10 տարում Հայաստանը և ԵՄ-ն սերտ հարաբերություններ են ունեցել, որոնց հիմքը հանդիսացել և այսօր էլ շարունակում է հանդիսանալ ԵՄ հարևանության քաղաքականությունը: Ճիշտ է, այդ քաղաքականությունը երբեմն չի կարողացել պատշաճ կերպով արձագանքել փոփոխություններին, ինչի համար էլ մենք որոշել ենք լրջորեն վերանայել այդ քաղաքականությունը՝ տարբեր երկրների հետ մեր համագործակցությունը խորացնելու և առաջ շարժվելու համար: Հարևանության քաղաքականությունը եվրոպական ուղիով առաջ շարժվելու ցանկություն ունեցող բոլոր երկրների համար լավ հնարավորություն է Եվրամիության հետ հարաբերությունները խորացնելու և տարբեր ուղղություններով առաջընթաց գրանցելու ուղղությամբ»,-  ընդգծեց Հրիսթեան:

Հրիսթեան շեշտեց, որ 2013թ. սեպտեմբերի 3-ին Հայաստանը կայացրեց Եվրասիական տնտեսական միությանն անդամակցելու ինքնիշխան որոշում, և, չնայած դրան, Եվրամիությունը պատրաստ է շարունակել համագործակցությունը Հայաստանի հետ բոլոր այն ուղղություններով, որոնք չեն խանգարելու Հայաստանին ինտեգրացիոն այլ գործընթացներում: «Մենք պատրաստակամ ենք Արևելյան գործընկերության շրջանակում շարունակել համագործակցությունը Հայաստանի հետ բոլոր այն ուղղություններով, որոնք չեն հակասելու ինտեգրացիոն այլ գործընթացներին, որոնցում ներգրավված է Հայաստանը»,- ասաց Հայաստանում ԵՄ դեսպանը:

Նա նաև ընդգծեց, որ ԵՄ-ն Հայաստանի իշխանությունների հետ արդեն ի մի է բերել այն ուղղությունները, որտեղ Հայաստանը և ԵՄ-ն կարող են շարունակել համագործակցությունը և խորացնել այն: Նա նշեց, որ ԵՄ-ն Հայաստանի իշխանությունների հետ ավարտել է քննարկումները և գաղափարների փոխանակման շրջանակում որոշվել է մանդատ մշակել, որը կզբաղվի Հայաստան-ԵՄ համագործակցության նոր հիմքերը կյանքի կոչելու գործով: Հրիսթեան հույս հայտնեց, որ Եվրահանձնաժողովի կողմից այդ մանդատը կստեղծվի առաջիկայում, որից հետո այն կուղարկվի ԵՄ անդամ մյուս երկրների հաստատմանը: Հայաստա նում ԵՄ դեսպանը, սակայն, դժվարացավ հստակ ժամկետներ նշել, թե երբ վերջնականապես կլինի մանդատը:

Անդրադառնալով Ռիգայում կայանալիք Արևելյան գործընկերության գագաթնաժողովին՝ Հրիսթեան կարծիք հայտնեց, որ այն հնարավորություն կստեղծի հասկանալ, թե ինչ մակարդակի վրա են ԵՄ-ի հարաբերությունները Արևելյան գործընկերության ծրագրի անդամ 6 երկրների հետ: Նա վստահություն հայտնեց, թե Ռիգայի գագաթնաժողովը ցույց կտա, որ Արևելյան գործընկերությունը ԵՄ-ի համար շարունակում է մնալ կարևորագույն առաջնահերթություն:
