Հայոց Ցեղասպանության հետ կապված Թուրքիայի որդեգրած պաշտոնական ժխտողական կեցվածքը համեմված է այնպիսի նրբերանգներով, որոնք պետք է միջազգային հանրության վերաբերմունքն ուղղորդեն Անկարայի համար բարենպաստ հունով: Նախ՝ Թուրքիան պնդում է, որ խնդիրը պետք է քննեն պատմաբանները և ոչ թե քաղաքական շրջանակներն ու իրավաբանները՝ այդ կերպ թուրքական պաշտոնատարները ջանում են ապաարդիականցնելով Հայոց Ցեղասպանության հարցը կտրել նրա կապը ներկա ժամանակների հետ և, այդպիսով, նաև չեզոքացնել այս խնդիրը քաղաքական ու իրավական հարթություն տեղափոխելու հավանական և իրենց համար խիստ մերժելի հնարավորությունը: Սակայն խնդիրը պատմական երևույթի վերածելու փորձերը բախվում են ժամանակների կապն ապահովող անշրջանցելի մի գործոնի առկայությանը՝ այդ գործոնը մեր կազմակերպված և իր գոյության համար պայքարում աննկարագրելի դժվարություններ հաղթահարած Սփյուռքն է, որի ամեն մի առանձին մասնիկն իր իրավուքներն ու կորուստները վերականգնելու առարկայական պահանջն ունի ներկայացնելու Անկարային: Թուրքական մյուս փաստարկն էլ այն է, որ ժամանակներն էին դաժան և բռնություններն էլ փոխադարձ էին ու հայերը գուցե անգամ ավելի շատ թուրքեր են սրի քաշել, քան իրենք են բնաջինջ եղել թուրքերի ձեռքով: Նման շեշտադրում կատարելով թուրքական կողմը, փաստորեն, ասում է, թե հայերն ու թուրքերը հավասարապես են մեղավոր և հավասարապես էլ տուժել են դաժան ժամանակների դաժան բարքերի պատճառով և չպետք է միմյանց պարտք ու պահանջ ներկայացնեն կատարվածի համար, այլ պարտավոր են խաղաղ գոյակցության, հաշտության ու համերաշխության բանաձևը միասին գտնել: Բայց այդ բանաձևը չի կարող գտնվել իրականությունն աղավաղող փաստարկումների միջոցով՝ դաժան ժամանակների դաժան բարքերին զոհ գնացած բյուրավոր հայերն ու թուրքերը սպանվել են թուրքական պետության կողմից հայ ժողովրդի հանդեպ զանգվածային բնաջնջման քաղաքականությունը կյանքի կոչելու՝ գործնականում կիրառելու ընթացքում: Սա երկու հավասարազոր ուժերի պայքար չէր, այլ թուրքական պետության կողմից իր հայազգի հպատակներին ոչնչացնելու փորձ, որին այդ հպատակներն իրենց հնարավորությունների սահմաններում դիմադրություն ցույց տվեցին՝ թուրքական կանոնավոր բանակին ու նրան աջակցող քուրդ հրոսակներին դիմադրում էին վատ զինված ու կայուն մատակարարումներից զուրկ հայ հայդուկների սակավաթիվ ջոկատները: Թուրքական կողմը մեկ այլ փաստարկ էլ է սիրում բարձրաձայնել՝ ասվում է, թե հայերին տեղահանելու որոշումը կայացնելու պատճառն այն է եղել, որ նրանք դավաճանաբար սատարել են Թուրքիայի դեմ պատերազմ մղող ռուսական բանակին: Անհերքելի է, որ ռուս-թուրքական հարաբերությունների համատեքստում հայկական գործոնը մշտապես օգտագործվել է Ռուսաստանի կողմից Թուրքիայի հանդեպ առավելության հասնելու համար, իսկ Արևմտյան Հայաստանում բնակվող հայությունն էլ որոշակի հույսեր էր կապում Ռուսաստանի հետ՝ թուրքական խտրական վերաբերմունքից և վայրագություններից ազատվելու համատեքստում: Բայց սրանով ավելի քան մեկուկես միլիոն խաղաղ, աշխատավոր մարդկանց զանգվածային տեղահանությունը, կողոպուտն ու բնաջնջումն արդարացնելը կարող է վկայել միայն մի բանի մասին՝ նման փաստարկներով գործած ոճիրն արդարացնելու փորձ անողները պատրաստ են այդ նույն ոճիրը կրկնել նաև այսօր և սա է, որ պետք է այժմ բոլորին զգաստացնի ու մտահոգի:
