Ես ուրախ եմ, որ վաղը Բունդեսթագի պատգամավորները` հրավիրված նիստում 1915 թ. դեպքերը շատ հստակ կանվանեն ցեղասպանություն:

20-րդ դարի սարսափելի հանցագործությունների, դաժան պատերազմների, արյունալի սպանդների մի ժամանակաշրջան էր, որը զանգվածային կերպով արտահայտված էր ցավով ու աքսորով: 20-րդ դարի առաջին ցեղասպանությունն այս տարի բոլորում է իր 100-ամյա տարելիցը: Մինչև 1.2 միլիոն հայ մորթվեց այն ժամանակ երիտթուրքերի կառավարության կողմից: Սեփական անցյալի ընդունում և նրա անկեղծ մշակում. Սա դեպի համատեղ ապագա տանող ճանապարհն է: Իրերը ժխտելը չի օգնում, քանզի ինչպես արդեն ասացի ոչ ոք երբեք չի մոռանալու այս հանցագործությունը: Օրեր առաջ Հռոմի պապը` աշխարհի մեկ միլիարդ կաթոլիկների առաջնորդը, շատ պարզ կերպով դատապարտեց հայերի ցեղասպանությունը: Նա խնդրեց թուրքական կառավարությանը մշակել այն: Ինչպես դուք բոլորդ գիտեք , մենք ևս 20-րդ դարում մեծ մեղք ենք մեր վրա վերցրել: Հոլոքոստը բացառիկ հանցագործություն էր ամբողջ մարդկության դեմ: Այն հավերժ և անջնջելի կերպով ամրագրված է մեր երկրի և մեր ժողովրդի պատմության մեջ:
Առանց մշակման մենք երբեք չէինք հանդիպի ներման և հաշտեցման այն չափին, ինչը մենք` գերմանացիներս,1945ից սկսած ապրելու իրավունք ունեցանք և իրավունք ունենք: Ես սովորական մեր Գերմանիայի փորձի մասին պատմեցի` երկրոչդ համաշխարհայինի ավարտից հետո, մեզ ներելու հարցում դիմացինի գերբնական ուժ գործադրելու մասին
Ներել և հաշտվել. Դա ուժ է պահանջում, դա նույնքան դժվար է, որքան սեփական մեղքի պատմական մշակումը, միգուցե, դա նույնիսկ ավելի դժվար է:

Այդ իսկ պատճառով ես մաղթում եմ ձեզ և մեզ բոլորիս անհրաժեշտ ուժ` այդ ճանապարհը գնալու համար, որպեսզի մեր մայրցամաքը նաև ապագայում մնա խաղաղության մայրցամաք` արտաքին և ներքին խաղաղության, մենք ճանաչենք իրար, հարգենք և գնահատենք:
