Huffington Post ամերիկյան հեղինակավոր պարբերականը ծավալուն հոդվածով անդրադարձ է կատարել Իրաքի հյուսիսում բնակվող եզդիներին և նրանց նկատմամբ իրականացվող կոտորածներին` դրանք համեմատելով Ֆրանց Վերֆելի «Մուսա լեռան 40 օրը» գրքում նկարագրված դեպերի հետ:
«Հյուսիսային Իրաքում բնակվող եզդիների քիչ հայտնի կրոնական փոքրամասնությունը, որն այսօր ճգնաժամի է բախվել, գրավել է արևմտյան մարդասիրական կազմակերպությունների ուշադրությունը: Իրաքի և Լևանտի Իսլամական Պետության (ԻԼԻՊ) զինյալների հետապնդումներից և հալածանքներից փախչող եզդիները, որոնք դարեր շարունակ բնակվել են Նինվենում, ճամբարում են Սինջար լեռան ամայի գագաթին` հուսահատորեն օգնության սպասելով դրսի ուժերից:
Նմանօրինակ պատմություն է նկարագրվում է ավելի քան 80 տարի առաջ գերմանախոս հրեա վիպասան Ֆրանց Վերֆելի հեղինակած «Մուսա լեռան 40 օրը» հայտնի վեպում: Գրվելուն պես վեպը մեծ արձագանք ստացավ: 900 էջանոց գիրքը 1934-ին Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer ստուդիայի ջանքերով էկրանավորվեց` երիտասարդ Կլարկ Գեյբլի մասնակցությամբ:
Վերֆելի վեպը ծանոթագրություն էր Առաջին աշխարհամարտի ժամանակ Թուրքիայի իրականացրած հակահայկական վայրագություններին: 1915-ի հունիսին տեղեկանալով նախապատրաստվող զանգվածային կոտորածների մասին` 6 հայկական քրիստոնեական գյուղի բնակիչներ Միջերկրականի ափերից հավաքեցին իրենց փոքրաթիվ ունեցվածքն ու զենքերը և բարձրացան Մուսա լեռան գագաթը` փախչելով մոտեցող թուրքերից», - նկարագրվում է պարբերականի հոդվածում:
Այնուհետև մանրամասնորեն նկարագրելով մեզ շատ հայտնի դեպքերը Մուսա լեռան գագաթին մարտնչող 4200 հայի մասին՝ հոդվածում նշվում է, որ այդ դեպքերը բավարար ուշադրության չարժանացան ժամանակի մամուլի կողմից` փոքր միջադեպ հանդիսանալով առավել մեծ հակամարտության մեջ:
«Այսօր էլ եզդիների սագան ցույց է տալիս, որ Վերֆելի նկարագրած դեպքերը կրկնվում են` հարց բարձրացնելով ժամանակակից մարդու բարոյական պատասխանատվության մասին: Երբ չարն ու հետապնդումները գլուխ են բարձրացնում, ի՞նչ ենք անում մենք, ինչպե՞ս ենք արձագանքում: Ինչպես Մուսա լեռան 40 օրվա դեպքերի ժամանակ, այնպես էլ՝ եզդիների առաջ ծառացած ճգնաժամում ցեղասպանության ուժերի հզոր զենքը ո'չ թե գնդացիրը կամ հրետանային զենքն է, այլ՝ ժամանակը, չարի դեմ պայքարելու և քայլեր ձեռնարկելու փոխարեն վարանելու ժամանակը: Ժամանակն է էականը, մենք երկմտում ենք՝ վտանգելով մեր բարոյական կերպարը»,- այս տողերով է ավարտվում հոդվածը:
