Թուրքիայի վարչապետ Ահմեթ Դավութօղլուն թուրք-սիրիական սահմանում առկա լարվածության հետ կապված հայտարարել է, որ նպատակ չունեն հարեւան դառնալ Սիրիայում գործող «Իսլամական պետություն» (ԻՊ) ահաբեկչական խմբավորման հետ: Ինչպես հաղորդում է «Արմենպրես»-ը` վկայակոչելով թուրքական «Հուրիեթ&ra quo; թերթը, Դավութօղլուն ասել է, որ Թուրքիայի նպատակը Սիրիայում «ԻՊ-ի մարտիկներից ազատագրված գոտում այդ երկրի չափավոր ընդդիմադիր ուժերի տեղակայումն է»:

Դավութօղլուն ասել է, որ ԻՊ-ի հետ կապված Թուրքիայի եւ ԱՄՆ-ի միջեւ տարակարծություններ կան, սակայն, կողմերի միջեւ այդ խնդրի հետ կապված «համաձայնեցված հարցեր» կան:

Դավութօղլուն միաժամանակ հավելել է, որ ներկա դրությամբ Թուրքիան մտադիր չէ Սիրիայի տարածքում ԻՊ-ի մարտիկների դեմ ցամաքային գործողություններ անցկացնել:

Թուրքիան ջանում է ստանալ ԱՄՆ-ի համաձայնությունը Սիրիայի հետ սահմանում մինչեւ 30 կմ խորությամբ օդային թռիչքներից զերծ «անվտանգության գոտի» ստեղծելու հարցում: Ահաբեկչության դեմ պայքարի պատրվակով Անկարան ցանկանում է իր հետ Սիրիայի սահմանային գոտին մաքրել քրդերից` վախենալով այն բանից, որ այդտեղ ԻՊ-ի դեմ մարտնչող քրդական զորամիավորումները, հաջողություն ունենալու դեպքում, հնարավոր է քրդական ինքնավարություն հռչակեն, ինչն, անտարակույս, կոգեւորի թուրքաբնակ քրդերին:
