Քլիվլենդում (Օհայոյի նահանգ) Հանրապետական կուսակցությունից նախագահի պաշտոնի հավակնորդներն առաջին համազգային հեռուստաբանավեճերի ընթացքում հանդես են եկել իրանական միջուկային ծրագրի սահմանափակման վերաբերյալ Թեհրանի հետ «վեցյակի» (ՄԱԿ-ի Անվտանգության խորհրդի հինգ մշտական անդամներ եւ Գերմանիա) կնքած համաձայնագրի դեմ, տեղեկացնում Է «Արմենպրես»-ը:

«Իրանն այն գործընկերը չԷ, որի հետ հարկավոր Է գործեր վարել»,- օգոստոսի 6-ին հայտարարել Է Վիսկոնսինի նահանգապետ Սքոթ Ուոքերն՝ ընդսմին ընդգծելով, որ «հենց ամենասկզբից հանդես Է եկել Իրանի հետ գործարքի դեմ»:

«Իրանի հետ բանակցություններն անհրաժեշտ Է վարել ուժի դիրքից»,- իր հերթին հայտարարել Է սենատոր Ռենդ Փոլը՝ նախագահ Բարաք Օբամայի վարչակազմին մեղադրելով այն բանում, որ նա «չափազանց մեծ զիջումներ Է արել Իրանին»: Ավելի վաղ Տեխասի նախկին նահանգապետ Ռիկ Փերին նույնպես նշել Է, որ ԱՄՆ-ի Կոնգրեսը պետք Է արգելափակի Իրանի միջուկային ծրագրի համաձայնագիրը:   

Փերիի հետ համաձայնություն Է հայտնել Hewlett-Packard  ընկերության նախկին ղեկավար Քառլի Ֆիորինան: Նա հայտարարել Է, որ նախագահի պաշտոնում իր ընտրվելու դեպքում ինքը «հեռախոսազանգ կանի (Իրանի առաջնորդ) այաթոլլա (Ալի Խամենեիին)՝ նրան ասելով, որ քանի դեռ Իրանը հնարավորություն չի ընձեռի մուտք գործելու իր բոլոր միջուկային օբյեկտներ, մենք (ԱՄՆ-ը) հնարավորինս ամեն ինչ կանենք Իրան դրամական հոսք թույլ չտալու համար»:    

Նա նաեւ պնդել Է, որ, գործարք կնքելով Իրանի հետ՝ ԱՄՆ-ի նախագահ Բարաք «Օբաման խախտել Է բանակցություններ վարելու բոլոր կանոնները», հաղորդել Է ՏԱՍՍ-ը:
