Ընթացիկ տարվա հոկտեմբերից հետո ամերիկյան հակաօդային պաշտպանության (ՀՕՊ) Patriot համակարգերը դուրս կբերվեն Թուրքիայից:

Թուրքիայի ԱԳՆ հայտարարության համաձայն, ԱՄՆ զինված ուժերի այս առաքելությունը երկրի տարածքում չի երկարաձգվի: «ԱՄՆ-ն թուրքական կառավարությանը տեղեկացրել է, որ Թուրքիայում Patriot համակարգերի տեղակայման՝ հոկտեմբերին ավարտվող ընթացիկ առաքելությունը չի երկարաձգվելու: Այդ հարցով խորհրդակցություններ են անցկացվել այլ դաշնակիցների հետ: ԱՄՆ-ն ու Թուրքիան քննարկում են հնարավոր այլ քայլեր, որոնք հնարավոր է ձեռնարկել՝ ուժեղացնելու համար թուրքական անվտանգությունը»,- ասված է Թուրքիայի ԱԳՆ հայտարարությունում:

ՏԱՍՍ-ի փոխանցմամբ, հայտարարության մեջ նաեւ նշվում է, որ ԱՄՆ-ն «տեղափոխման համար պատրաստ պահելու է բալիստիկ հրթիռների դեմ պաշտպանության միջոցները»՝ անսպասելի սպառնալիքին դիմակայելու համար: Բացի այդ, Թուրքիայում Patriot-ի մարտկոցների տեղակայման կետերը սառեցվելու են՝ «ապագայում համակարգերի տեղակայումն արագացնելու համար»:

2012 թվականի վերջին Անկարան ՆԱՏՕ-ին խնդրել էր հրթիռներ տրամադրել՝ սիրիական կողմից իր տարածքի ուղղությամբ հարվածները թույլ չտալու համար: 2013-ի սկզբին Թուրքիայի հարավ-արեւելյան երեք շրջաններում, Սիրիայի հետ սահմանից 70-100 կմ հեռավորությամբ, երկուական Patriot համակարգեր են տեղակայվել Գերմանիայից, ԱՄՆ-ից եւ Նիդեռլանդներից:
