Պենտագոնը հրապարակել է Աֆղանստանում խաղաղ բնակիչների զանգվածային սպանության հետաքննության արդյունքները, որն իրականացրել է ավագ սերժանտ Ռոբերտ Բեյլսը:

ԱՄՆ Կենտրոնական հրամանատարության կայքում հրապարակված զեկույցի համաձայն, կայազորում, որտեղ ծառայել է Բեյլսը, ղեկավարությունը մատների արանքով էր նայում զինվորների պահվածքին: Ինքը՝ ավագ սերժանտը, չարաշահել է ալկոհոլն ու թմրանյութերը:

Lenta.ru-ի փոխանցմամբ, նրա ծառայակիցներից մեկը տեղեկացրել է, որ զանգվածային ջարդից մի քանի շաբաթ առաջ Բեյլսը բեռնատարի խցիկից դուրս է բերել աֆղանցի վարորդին եւ դաժան ծեծի ենթարկել:

Մինչ Աֆղանստան մեկնելը, Բեյլսը երեք անգամ գործուղվել է Իրաք եւ ատել տեղի բնակիչներին: Նա ծառայակիցներին բազմիցս ասել է. «Ես ռասիստ չեմ՝ բացառությամբ այն դեպքերի, երբ խոսքն իրաքցիների եւ աֆղանցիների մասին է»:

2013 թվականի օգոստոսին ԱՄՆ Բանակի ավագ սերժանտ Ռոբերտ Բեյլսը ցմահ ազատազրկման է դատապարտվել: 2012-ի մարտին նա հարձակվել է Քանդահար գավառի ռազմաբազայից ոչ հեռու տեղակայված երկու գյուղերի վրա: Սերժանտը մտել է տներն ու սպանել բնակիչներին, որոնց մեծ մասն այդ ժամին քնած է եղել: Նրա գործողությունների հետեւանքով 16 մարդ է զոհվել, մեծ մասը՝ կանայք ու երեխաներ: Բեյլսի մոտ հետտրավմատիկ սթրեսային խանգարում են ախտորոշել:
