Դեպքը տեղի է ունեցել հայտնի Բուրջ-էլ-Արաբ մոտ գտնվող լողափին, ուր տղամարդը եկել էր կնոջ և երեխաների հետ: 20-ամյա դուստրը ջուրը մտնելուց քիչ անց սկսել է խեղդվել: Փրկարարները չեն հասցրել օգնության գնալ, քանի որ նրանց խանգարել է աղջկա հայրը:

«Այս դեպքը ես միշտ կհիշեմ: Ինձ և բոլոր ներկաներին այն ուղղակի շոկի ենթարկեց: Հայրը կնոջն ու երեխաներին բերել էր լողափ պիկնիկի ու ուրախության համար: Երեխաներն ափի մոտ լողում էին, երբ հանկարծ 20-ամյա աղջիկը սկսեց խեղդվել և օգնության կանչել: Երբ փրկարարները գնացին օգնելու նրանք ճանապարհին մի խնդիր առաջացավ:»,- պատմել է ոստիկան Ահմեդ Բուրկիբան:

Իսկ այդ խնդիրը երիտասարդ աղջկա հայրն էր: Ասիացու հավատն ասում էր, որ եթե նրանք դիպչեն աղջկան, ապա կարատավորեն նրան: Եվ դա դարձավ աղջկա մահվան պատճառ: Տղամարդը անգամ ուժ է կիրառել փրկարարների դեմ և ասել է, որ գերադասում է որ իր աղջիկը մեռնի, քան նրան դիպչեն անծանոթ տղամարդիկ:
