 Նշանավոր պետական և ռազմական գործիչ, ՀՀ զինված ուժերի կայացման առաջամարտիկ, գեներալ-գնդապետ Գուրգեն Դալիբալթայանը 2015թ. սեպտեմբերի 1-ին կնքել է իր մահկանացուն: Այս մասին «Արմենպրես»-ին տեղեկացրին ՀՀ պաշտպանության նախարարության տեղեկատվության եւ հասարակայնության հետ կապերի վարչությունից:

Գուրգեն Հարությունի Դալիբալթայանը ծնվել է 1926թ. հունիսի 5-ին Վրաստանում` Բոգդանովկայի (այժմ` Նինոծմինդա) շրջանի Մեծ Արագյալ գյուղում: 1934-44թթ. սովորել է Գորելովկայի միջնակարգ դպրոցում: 1947-ին ավարտել է Թբիլիսիի հետևակային ուսումնարանը:  1958-61թթ. սովորել է Մոսկվայի Մ. Ֆրունզեի անվան զինվորական համազորային ակադեմիայում: 1947-1991թթ. ծառայել է ԽՍՀՄ զինված ուժերում: Զբաղեցրել է մի շարք հրամանատարական պաշտոններ` Հայկական 89-րդ հրաձգային դիվիզիայի 526-րդ առանձին գնդի դասակի հրամանատարից մինչև Սիբիրի զինվորական օկրուգի 242-րդ մոտոհրաձգային դիվիզիայի հրամանատար, Բուդապեշտում խորհրդային զորքերի հարավային խմբակցության շտաբի պետի առաջին տեղակալ, Հյուսիսկովկասյան զինվորական օկրուգի զորքերի հրամանատարի տեղակալ մարտական պատրաստության գծով: 1971թ.ին Գուրգեն Դալիբալթայանին շնորհվել է գեներալ-մայորի զինվորական կոչում:

1987թ. սահմանային տարիքի հասնելու կապակցությամբ արձակվել է պահեստազոր ԽՍՀՄ ԶՈւ պահեստազոր:

Հայաստանի համար բախտորոշ ժամանակաշրջանում` 1991թ.-ին, Գուրգեն Դալիբալթայանը հայրենիքի կանչով եկել է Հայաստան և զինվորագրվել է Հայաստանի Հանրապետության ազգային բանակի կազմավորման բարդ ու դժվարին գործին: Լինելով փորձառու զինվորական` նա իր խորհուրդներով և փորձառությամբ օգնել է նորաստեղծ զինված ուժերի երիտասարդ սպաներին: Անձամբ ղեկավարել է մի շարք մարտական գործողությունների պլանների մշակման աշխատանքները:

1991թ-ին ՀՀ նախագահի հրամանագրով նշանակվել է ՀՀ զինված ուժերի գլխավոր շտաբի պետ-նախարարների խորհրդին կից պաշտպանության կոմիտեի նախագահի տեղակալ: 1991-1992թթ. զբաղեցրել է ՀՀ զինված ուժերի գլխավոր շտաբի պետ-ՀՀ պաշտպանության նախարարի առաջին տեղակալի, 1992թ. օգոստոսից մինչև 1993թ. սեպտեմբեր` ՀՀ պաշտպանության նախարարի տեղակալի պաշտոնները: 1992թ. ՀՀ նախագահի հրամանագրով Գուրգեն Դալիբալթայանին շնորհվել է գեներալ-լեյտենանտի, իսկ 1996թ-ին` գեներալ-գնդապետի զինվորական կոչում: 1993-2006թթ. զբաղեցրել է ՀՀ նախագահի գլխավոր խորհրդականի, իսկ 2000-2006թթ.` Գլխավոր ռազմա կան տեսուչի պաշտոնները:

Հայրենիքը բարձր է գնահատել նրա ծառայությունները: Նրա զինվորական վաստակի գնահատականն են այն բազմաթիվ պետական և գերատեսչական պարգևները, որոնց արժանացել է գեներալ-գնդապետ Գուրգեն Դալիբալթայանը: Պարգևատրվել է ԽՍՀՄ բազմաթիվ շքանշաններով, 1998-ին` ՀՀ 1-ին աստիճանի «Մարտական խաչ», 2000-ին` ԼՂՀ 1-ին աստիճանի «Մարտական խաչ», 2002թ. Հայ առաքելական եկեղեցու «Ներսես Շնորհալի», 2006-ին` ՌԴ «Մեծ հաղթանակ» շքանշաններով, պետական ու գերատեսչական մեդալներով:

2001թ. հուլիսի 20-ին Գուրգեն Դալիբալթայանին շնորհվել է Երևանի պատվավոր քաղաքացու կոչում: 2001թ-ից Ախալքալաքի շրջանի Ագանայի միջնակարգ դպրոցը կոչվում է Գուրգեն Դալիբալթայանի անունով:

Կյանքի վերջին տարիներին էլ Գուրգեն Դալիբալթայանը շարունակում էր իր հարուստ փորձը ներդնել զինված ուժերի հետագա զարգացմանը: Նա իրեն ճանաչողների և զինակից ընկերների հիշողության մեջ կմնա որպես հայրենիքի իսկական նվիրյալ զինվոր, համեստ ու պարկեշտ մարդ և քաղաքացի: Կանգնած լինելով հայոց բանակի կազմավորման ակունքներում` Գուրգեն Դալիբալթայանը միշտ կհիշվի որպես հայրենիքի անկախության պաշտպանի և բանակի կայացման առաջամարտիկներից մեկը:

Գեներալ-գնդապետ Գուրգեն Դալիբալթայանի հուղարկավորությունը զիվորական կարգով կազմակերպելու նպատակով ՀՀ պաշտպանության նախարարությունում ստեղծվել է հանձնաժողով պաշտպանության նախարարի գլխավորությամբ:
