ՀՀ էկոնոմիկայի նախարար Կարեն Ճշմարիտյանը սեպտեմբերի 9-ին ընդունել է Համաշխարհային բանկի (ՀԲ) Հարավային Կովկասի տարածաշրջանի գծով նորանշանակ տնօրեն Մերսի Թեմբոնի ղեկավարած պատվիրակությանը, որի կազմում էին տարածաշրջանային նախկին տնօրեն Հենրի Քերալին, ՀԲ հայաստանյան գրասենյակի ղեկավար Լաուրա Բեյլին, ավագ տնտեսագետ Գոհար Գյուլումյանը և գործառնությունների գծով պատասխանատու Ալեքսան Հովհաննիսյանը: Հանդիպմանը մասնակցել են ՀՀ էկոնոմիկայի նախարարի առաջին տեղակալ Գարեգին Մելքոնյանը, տեղակալներ Սերգեյ Ավետիսյանը և Էմիլ Տարասյանը, Հայկական զարգացման հիմնադրամի տնօրեն Արման Խաչատրյանը:

Ինչպես տեղեկացրին ՀՀ էկոնոմիկայի նախարարության տեղեկատվության եւ հասարակայնության հետ կապերի բաժնից, հանդիպման ընթացքում Կարեն Ճշմարիտյանը շնորհավորել է Մերսի Թեմբոնին նոր նշանակման առթիվ, պատրաստակամություն հայտնել շարունակելու և հետագայում առավել խորացնելու Հայաստան-ՀԲ համագործակցությունը` համատեղ ջանքերով նոր ուղիներ փնտրելով զարգացման և բարեփոխումների գործընթացներն առավել արդյունավետ դարձնելու առումով:

Մերսի Թեմբոնն իր գոհունակությունն է արտահայտել տարածաշրջ անում աշխատելու հնարավորության համար և հայտնել իր մեծ ոգևորությունը Համաշխարհային Բանկի աջակցությամբ Հայաստանում իրականացվող մի շարք ծրագրերի իրականացման արդյունքների առնչությամբ: 

ՀՀ էկոնոմիկայի նախարարը նշել է, որ Հայաստանը, լինելով փոքր, սահմանափակ բնական ռեսուրսներով, բարդ աշխարհաքաղաքական դիրքում գտնվող երկիր, ունի մարդկային և մտավոր այնպիսի կապիտալ, որը կարող է դառնալ երկրի զարգացման կարևորագույն առանցքը:  

Հանդիպման ընթացքում քննարկվել է ընդհանուր տնտեսության և ոլորտային զարգացման քաղաքականության հարցերի բավականին ընդգրկուն շրջանակ: 

Արծարծվել են Հայաստանի՝ ԵԱՏՄ անդամակցությամբ պայմանավորված գործընթացներին, ՀՀ-ԵՄ համագործակցության հետագա խորացման հնարավորություններին, քաղաքացիական ավիացիայի բարեփոխումների ընթացքին,  երկրում էլեկտրոնային հասարակության կայացման ուղղությամբ գրանցված նկատելի առաջընթացին վերաբերող հարցեր: Առանձին անդրադարձ  է կատարվել ՀՀ էկոնոմիկայի նախարարության ընդհանուր համակարգմամբ և ՀԲ աջակցությամբ իրականացվող ծրագրերին: 

Քննարկվել է նաև Հայաստանի մակ րոտնտեսական ցուցանիշների վերաբերյալ միջազգային կառույցների և մասնավորապես ՀԲ կողմից իրականացվող կանխատեսումների հարցը: Նախարարը կարծիք է հայտնել, որ կանխատեսումներ անելիս պետք չէ գերագնահատել արտաքին տնտեսական ազդեցությունները և թերագնահատել  երկրի ներքին պոտենցիալը: Զրուցակիցները համակարծիք են եղել, որ կանխատեսումների նկատմամբ առավել զգուշավոր մոտեցումը բխում է երկու կողմերի շահերից: 

Հանդիպման ավարտին կողմերը պատրաստակամություն են հայտնել շարունակել և ընդլայնել ձևավորված արդյունավետ գործընկերային հարաբերությունները:
