Եվրոպայի կանաչների կուսակցությունը Լիոնում կայացած 23-րդ համաժողովին ընդունել է Հայոց ցեղասպանության մասին բանաձև` համաձայն որի Օսմանյան կայսրությունը ցեղասպանություն է իրագործել հայ ժողովրդի հանդեպ: 

Բանաձևը կոչ է անում Թուրքիային ճանաչել Հայոց ցեղասպանությունը և աշխատել Հայաստանի ու հայ ժողովրդի հետ հաշտեցման ուղղությամբ:

Այս նախաձեռնությամբ Եվրոպայի կանաչների կուսակցությունը կոչ է անում Հայոց ցեղասպանությունը դեռևս չճանաչած բոլոր երկրներին հրապարակայնորեն ճանաչել այն: Կուսակցությունն ընդգծում է, որ այս քայլը դրական կերպով կանդրադառնա Հայաստանի և Թուրքիայի միջև հարաբերությունների կարգավորման վրա և կնպաստի մարդկության հանդեպ հետագա հանցագործությունների կանխմանը: 

Բանաձևը պահանջում է թուրքական կառավարությունից վերագնահատել պատմական և մշակութային մոտեցումները, բաց անել արխիվները պատմաբանների, հետազոտողների և գիտնականների առջև՝ փորձելով հաշտվել անցյալի հետ: 

Բանաձևն ընդգծում է, որ բոլորն ունեն սեփական պատմության ճանաչման և մշակույթի հանդեպ հարգանքի իրավունք: 

«Հայոց ցեղասպանության հարյուրամյակին Եվրոպայի Կանաչների կուսակցության ընդունած բանաձևի նպատակն է հիշեցնել յուրաքանաչյուր երկրի, որ այն իր մասնաբաժինն ունի ներդնելու՝ հանուն առավել խաղաղ աշխարհի: Սա է պատճառներից մեկը, թե ինչու Թուրքիան պետք է այժմ դադարեցնի իր ժխտողական քաղաքականությունը»,- ասել է Եվրոպական խորհրդարանի պատգամավոր, ԵԽ-ում Կանաչների խմբակցության փոխնախագահ, «Հայաստանի եվրոպացի բարեկամներ» կազմակերպության խորհրդատվական խմբի անդամ Միշել Ռիվազին:

Կանաչների կուսակցությունը միավորում է շուրջ 45 Կանաչների կուսակցություն Եվրոպայում և ներկայացված է արևելյան Եվրոպայի գործընկերության երկրներում:
