Ամերիկայի հայկական համագումարը Հայաստանին և Լեռնային Ղարաբաղին են նվիրաբերել ականներ հայտնաբերող 6 շուն (MDD):

Ինչպես տեղեկացնում է Ամերիկայի Հայկական Համագումարի գրասենյակը, այդ նպատակով Ամերիկայի հայկական համագումարի (Համագումար) խորհրդի անդամ Անի Թոթահն ու գործադիր տնօրեն Բրայան Արդունին մասնակցել են Մարշալի անվան ժառանգության ինստիտուտի (MLI) 18-րդ ամենամյա տոնախմբությանը՝ Ճանապարհների ականազերծում խորագրով, որտեղ նրանք հանդիպել են աշխատակիցներին, աջակիցներին և Շներով Ականազերծման Կորպուսի արշավի ակտիվիստներին:

«Որպես Մարշալի անվան ժառանգության ինստիտուտի ականազերծման ծրագրի ցմահ գործընկեր և տասնամյակներ շարունակ լինելով Հայաստանում և Լեռնային Ղարաբաղում HALO Trust-ի նախաձեռնությունների աջակից՝ Համագումարը գոհ է ներկայիս արդյունքներից և լիահույս ենք ընթացիկ ծրագրերն ավարտված տեսնել գալիք տարիների ընթացքում», - նշել է Համագումարի խորհրդի անդամ Անի Թոթահը:

2002 թ. Համագումարը դարձավ MLI –ի Շներով ականազերծման կորպուսի արշավի առաջին մասնակիցներից մեկը: Համագումարի հովանավորած ականներ հայտնաբերող շների հաջողություններից են Ադրբեջանի հետ Հայաստանի սահմանի շփման գծում տարածքների ականազերծումը, որոնք այսօր օգտագործվում են հողագործության, արոտավայրերի և այլ գյուղատնտեսական նպատակներով, ինչպես նաև տրանսպորտային և ենթակառուցվածքային նախագծերի համար:

Անցյալ ամիս, HALO Trust-ի տնօրեն Էնդրյու Մուրը և HALO Trust-ի ԱՄՆ գործադիր տնօրեն Թոմ Ֆոսթը հանդիպեցին Համագումարի աշխատակազմի հետ իրենց շտաբում՝ քննարկելու Հայաստանի և Լեռնային Ղարաբաղի հետ կապված ընթացիկ ծրագրերն ու նվաճումները:

«Շատ ամերիկահայեր տեղյակ չեն, որ Լեռնային Ղարաբաղում առկա է ականապատ տարածքների խնդիր, և որ մեկ շնչի հաշվով պատահարների շարքում այն ամենաբարձրերից է աշխարհում, ավելի բարձր, քան նույնիսկ Կամբոջիայում և Աֆղանստանում», - հայտարարել է HALO Trust-ի ԱՄՆ գործադիր տնօրեն Թոմ Ֆոսթը:

2000 թվականից ի վեր HALO Trust-ի անձնակազմը վերացրել է Լեռնային Ղարաբաղի ականադաշտերի գրեթե 90 տոկոսը, որի արդյունքում 66.718 ակր ականազերծ տարածք կարող է օգտագործվել տեղաբնակների կողմից:  Միայն 2013 թ. HALO Trust-ում աշխատել է 175 ղարաբաղյան անձնակազմ և ականազերծել ավելի քան 370 ակր հող՝ որպես վերջինիս «Ականներից Ազատ Արցախ» նախաձեռնության մի մաս:
