Փարիզում երկու շաբաթ ընթացող բանակցությունների արդյունքում մասնակից երկրները համաձայնության եկան գլոբալ տաքացման ջերմաստիճանի 2C-ով բարձրացման սահմանափակումն ապահովող միջոցառումների փաթեթի շուրջ: Ինչպես հաղորդում է  BBC-ին, համաձայնագրի փաթեթին միացած երկրնե րը հաստատել են ջերմոցային գազերի արտանետման մակարդակի կրճատման վերաբերյալ որոշումը:

Փարիզյան համաձայնագրի փաթեթի մեջ ներառված դրույթների մի մասը պարտադիր է, մյուս մասը հնարավոր է իրականացնել կամավորության սկզբունքով:

ԱՄՆ նախագահ Բարաք Օբաման համաշխարհային առաջներդներից առաջիններից էր, ով շտապեց Թվիթերով շնորհավորել բոլորին նման «հսկայածավալ» համաձայնագրի ստորագրման առիթով:

Համաձայնագրի հիմնական դրույթներն են. հնարավորին արագ նվազեցնել ջերմոցային գազերի արտանետման առավելագույն ծավալները, հավասարակշության բերել  ջերմոցային գազերի արտանետման աղբյուրների և կլանման համակարգերը, ապահովել համաշխարհային ջերմաստիճանի բարձրացման առավելագույն աստիճանը՝ 2C (3.6F)` միաժամանակ ջանքեր թափելով, որ այն չգերազանցի 1.5C, յուրաքանչյուր 5 տարին մեկ հաշվետու լինել կատարվող աշխատանքների վերաբերյալ, մինչև 2020թ.-ը տարեկան 100 միլիարդ դոլար հատկացնել զարգացող երկրներին՝ անհրաժեշտ աշխատանքներ կատարելու համար:

Ավելի վաղ Ֆրանսիայի նախագահ Ֆրանսուա Օլանդը երկու շաբաթ քննարկվող նախագիծն անվանել էր աննախադեպ, իսկ ՄԱԿ-ի Գլխավոր քարտուղար Բան Կի Մունը կոչ էր արել «վերջացնել աշխատանքը»:

Այնուամենայնիվ, ոչ բոլոր մասնակիցներն էին դրական տրամադրված քննարկումների ժամանակ: Global Justice Now քարոզչախմբի ղեկավար Նիք Դիրդենն ասել է. «Վիրավորական է: Գործարքը, որ քննարկման սեղանի վրա է, ընկալվում է որպես հաջողություն, երբ այն խարխլում է աշխարհի առավել խոցելի համայնքների իրավունքները և ապագա սերունդների համար գրեթե ոչինչ չի պարտադրում ապահովել անվտանգ և կենսունակ մթնոլորտ»:

Չինաստանը, Հնդկանստանն ու Հարավային Աֆրիկան երկար ժամանակ հրաժարվում էին ստորագրել համաձայնագիրը, քանի որ համարում էին, որ այն կհարվածի իրենց երկրների տնտեսական աճին: Վերջնական բանակցությունները թույլ տվեցին լուծել խնդիրը՝ սահմանելով երկրներին տրվող ֆինանսական օգնության համակարգը:
