Հայաստանի և Ադրբեջանի նախագահների սպասվող հանդիպումից պետք չէ շրջադարձային ակնկալիքներ ունենալ: 

Նման կարծիք հայտնեց քաղաքագետ Նարեկ Գալստյանը: 

«Չնայած այս հանդիպմանը քաղաքական մեծ նշանակություն է տրվում, բայց ես մեծ ակնկալիքներ չունեմ, որովհետև մենք ականտես ենք լինում Ադրբեջանի ապակառուցողական քաղաքականությանը, աշխարհաքաղաքական միջավայրն էլ արցախյան հիմնախնդրի շուրջ փոփոխության չի ենթարկվել: Կարծում եմ` հանդիպման ընթացքում դժվար թե նոր բան ձեռք բերվի: Կլինեն հայտարարություններ, բայց իրականությունը ցույց է տալիս, որ գործանականում ոչինչ չի փոխվում»,-ասաց Նարեկ Գալստյանը:

ԱՄՆ կոնգրեսականներն առաջարկներ էին ներկայացրել` ուղղված սահմանային լարվածության թուլացմանը: Կոչ էր արվում շփման գծում դիպուկահարներին հետ կանչել, ԵԱՀԿ-ի կողմից սարքավորումներ տեղակայել  հարձակումների աղբյուրը ճշտելու համար, ԵԱՀԿ դիտորդներ տեղակայել շփման գծում հրադադարի խախտման դեպքերն ավելի լավ վերահսկելու համար: Հարցին, թե որքանով են այս առաջարկություններն իրատեսական, քաղաքագետ Նարեկ Գալստյանը նշեց, որ սահմանային իրավիճակի վերահսկողության վերաբերյալ ամենակարևոր գաղափարներն արդեն հնչել են: Դրանք եղել են համանախագահների կողմից, պարբերաբար հնչում են նաև Հայաստանի ղեկավարության կողմից:

«Դրանք վերաբերում են թե´ դիպուկահարներին հետ կանչելուն, թե´ սահմանային միջադեպերը քննելուն: Հայտարարություններ, կոչեր եղել են, բայց առաջարկությունը մի բան է, իրականությունը` այլ բան: Քանի դեռ ԵԱՀԿ Մինսկի խումբը չունի պարտադրողական մանդատ, այդ խնդիրը չի լուծվի: Որքան էլ ամերիկացի, ֆրասնիացի, ռուս գործիչնեը առաջարկություններ անեն, գործը տեղից չի շարժվի, քանի դեռ այդ պարտադրողական ուժը չկա: Որքան էլ քննադատական շեշտադրումներով հայտարարություններ հնչեն, միևնույն է, տեսնում ենք, որ իրավիճակը չի փոխվում»,-հավելեց Նարեկ Գալստյանը: Ըստ նրա` մեզ մնում է ամուր պահել մեր սահմանները, գնահատել մեր զինվորների կատարած աշխատանքը և այնպես անել, որ բանակն իր բարձունքում լինի:

Նախագահ Սերժ Սարգսյանը դեկտեմբերի 18-ին աշխատանքային այցով կմեկնի Շվեյցարիայի Համադաշնություն՝ Բեռն, որտեղ դեկտեմբերի 19-ին ԵԱՀԿ Մինսկի խմբի համանախագահների միջնորդությամբ հանդիպում կունենա Ադրբեջանի նախագահ Իլհամ Ալիևի հետ:
