Ֆրանսահայ աշխարհահռչակ շանսոնիե, Շվեյցարիայում Հայաստանի դեսպան Շառլ Ազնավուրը, Hollywood Reporter-ին տված հարցազրույցում խոսելով իր դիվանագիտական գործունեության մասին, ասել է, թե աշխատում է ինքնուրույն՝ առանց նախագահին հարցնելու, թե ինչ պետք է անել, բայց հետո հայտնում է իր կատարած քայլերի մասին:
«Օրինակ, ես շուտով տեսակցելու եմ Թուրքիայի դեսպանի հետ, դա հազվագյուտ բան է, բայց ես նախապես չեմ տեղեկացրել այդ մասին, քանի որ կարող են ինձ ասել, թե չպետք է դա անեմ, մինչդեռ ես ուզում եմ ազատ լինել իմ քայլերում», - նշել է Ազնավուրը անցած ամառ Ֆրանսիայի Պրովանս շրջանում տված հարցազրույցում:
«Կան դժվարություններ ոչ միայն թուրքերի հետ, ովքեր չեն ցանկանում ընդունել Հայոց ցեղասպանությունը, այլև նրանց հետ, ովքեր չեն ուզում, որ ես բարեկամական հարաբերություններ ունենամ Թուրքիայի հետ: Հետևաբար՝ պետք է զգույշ լինեմ», - ասել է նա:
Այսպիսի բան միայն Հայաստանում կարող է լինել:
Դեսպանը հրապարակավ ասում է, որ իր քայլերը չի համաձայնեցնում Երևանի հետ:
Չեմ էլ կասկածում, որ աշխարհահռչակ շանսոնիեն ճշմարտությունն է ասում, որովհետև, թերևս, նրա փորձառությունը հուշում է, որ Հայաստանի արտաքին քաղաքականությունը՝ հատկապես հայ-թուրքական հարաբերությունների մասով, որոշվում է ոչ թե Երևանում, այլ՝ Մոսկվայում:
Մյուս կողմից, երբեք ընդունելի չեմ համարել, որ անվանի մտավորականը՝ դիվանագիտությունից հեռու, պետք է զբաղեցնի դեսպանի պաշտոնը: Այդ սխալն արել ենք Առաջին հանրապետության տարիներին, կրկնում ենք այսօր: Մենք պատմությունից ոչինչ չենք սովորում:
Ազնավուրի մյուս բացահայտումն այն է, որ Հայաստանի իշխանության վերնախավում կան մարդիկ, ովքեր ընդդիմանում են հայ-թուրքական հարաբերությունների հաստատմանը:
Սա, թերևս, նորություն չէ, բայց բացահայտում է այն իմաստով, որ հնչեցվում է դիվանագիտական կարգավիճակ ունեցող անձի կողմից: Դիվանագիտական պրակտիկայում ընդունված չէ բացահայտել այն ներքին տրամադրություններն, որոնք առկա են այս կամ այն երկրի հանդեպ...
