Աշխատանքային այցով Լատվիայի Հանրապետությունում գտնվող ՀՀ ԱԺ փոխնախագահ Էդուարդ Շարմազանովը հունվարի 13-ին հանդիպում է ունեցել Լատվիայի Հանրապետության Սաեյմայի փոխխոսնակ Ինես Լիբինա-Էգների հետ: Ինչպես տեղեկացրին ՀՀ ԱԺ փոխնախագահ Էդուարդ Շարմազանովի աշխատակազմից, հանդիպմանը ներկա են եղել Բալթյան երկրներում ՀՀ արտակարգ եւ լիազոր դեսպան Արա Այվազյանը, ինչպես նաև Սաեյմայի քարտուղար Անդրեյ Կլեմենտեւը:

Կողմերը կարևորել են երկկողմ հարաբերությունների հետագա սերտացումն ու ամրապնդումը, մասնավորապես, երկու երկրների խորհրդարանների միջեւ փոխգործակցությունը:

Անդրադառնալով ՀՀ-ԵՄ հարաբերություններին՝ ԱԺ փոխնախագահը նշել է, որ Հայաստանը պատրաստակամ է շարունակելու քաղաքական երկխոսությունը եվրոպացի գործընկերների հետ: «Այդ համագործակցությունը կնպաստի Հայաստանում ժողովրդավարական արժեքների ամրապնդմանն ու բարեփոխումների իրականացմանը»,-ընդգծել է Էդուարդ Շարմազանովը:

Կողմերն անդրադարձել են նաեւ տարածաշրջանային զարգացումներին՝ նշելով, որ հակամարտությունների խաղաղ կարգավորմանն այլընտրանք չկա: «ԼՂ հակամարտության ռազմական ճանապարհով լուծման ցանկացած փորձ դատապարտելի է եւ պետք է խիստ քննադատության ենթարկվի միջազգային հանրության կողմից: Հիմնախնդիրը պետք է կարգավորվի երեք հայտնի սկզբունքների հիման վրա: Արցախի ժողովրդի ինքնորոշման իրավունքի իրացմանն այլընտրանք չկա»,-ընդգծել է ԱԺ փոխնախագահը:

Լատվիայի Սաեյմայի փոխխոսնակն իր հերթին նշել է. «Մենք սատարում ենք ԵԱՀԿ Մինսկի խմբին եւ մտահոգված ենք վերջին շրջանում ծանր հրետանու կիրառմամբ, որի հետեւանքով զոհվեցին խաղաղ բնակիչներ»:

Անդրադառնալով հայ-թուրքական հարաբերությունների ներկայիս փուլին՝ Էդուարդ Շարմազանովը նշել է, որ Թուրքիան չի կատարում իր ստանձնած պարտավորությունները՝ շարունակելով շրջափակման մեջ պահել Հայաստանը:
