Թուրքիայի արդարադատության նախարարության բանտերի եւ կալանավայրերի հարցերով պատասխանատու Յավուզ Յըլդըրըմը հայտարարել է, որ երկրի բանտերը գրեթե լիքն են եւ դրանց գերբեռնվածությունը նվազեցնելու համար առաջիկա 4 տարիների ընթացքում նախատեսվում է 165 նոր բանտ բացել:

Ինչպես հաղորդում է CNNTurk հեռուստաալիքը, բանտերում եւ կալավայրերում տիրող վիճակի մասին թուրքական խորհրդարանի մարդու իրավունքների ենթահանձնաժողով ներկայացրած զեկույցում Յըլդըրըմը նշել է, որ 2016 թվականի հունվարի 13-ի դրուջթյամբ` Թուրքիայում 180 հազար 176 հոգու համար նախատեսված բանտերում ներկայում կան 179 հազար 611 կալանավոր եւ դատապարտյալ:

Զեկույցի համաձայն` կալանավայրերում 179 հազար 611 գտնվողներից 140 հազար 35-ը դատապարտյալ են,  13 հազար 882-ը` բանտարկյալ, 25 հազար 694-ը` կալանավոր: Նրանցից 170 հազար 759-ը տղամարդիկ են, 6 հազար 468-ը` կանայք: Բանտերում գտնվողներից 169 հազար 400-ը քրեական հանցագործներ են, 8 հազար 44-ը` «ահաբեկիչներ», 2 հազար 197 հոգի էլ պատիժ է կրում կազմակերպված հանցագործություն կատարելու համար:

Նշվում է, որ առաջիկայում նոր բանտեր բացվելու հետ 131 հին բանտ կփակվի:
