В Санта-Монике были вручены награды Critics Choice Awards 2016. Ежегодная кинопремия считается как бы "подготовкой" к церемонии вручения кинопремии "Оскар", проводимой в феврале.

Картиной года признана  криминальная драма "В центре внимания", где снялись Марк Руффало и Рэйчел МакАдамс.  Лучшим актером назван Леонардо Ди Каприо за роль в фильме "Выживший" (стал еще на один шаг ближе к заветному "Оскару"), а лучшей актрисой – Бри Ларсон (картина "Комната").
