Մի դեպք հիշեցի' պատմեմ: 1997-ի մայիսի 9-ին Ստեփանակերտում պիտի կայանար ԼՂՀ բանակի զորահանդեսը, որը հեռարձակվելու էր ուղիղ եթերով: Սա առաջին դեպքն էր: Բոլորն էլ հրաշալի գիտակցում էին դրա ռազմաքաղաքական կարևորությունը և նախապատրաստվում էին ծայրահեղ պատասխանատվությամբ: Պաշտպանության նախարարությունից մենք խումբ ուղարկեցինք զորահանդեսը նկարահանելու և հեռարձակումն ապահովելու համար: Եկավ սպասված օրը: Ու հանկարծ վաղ առավոտյան մեր տղաները զանգ են տալիս Ղարաբաղից և ասում են, որ լուրջ խնդիրներ են ծագել. հակաօդային պաշտպանության ռադիոլոկացիոն կայանքների աշխատանքը խոչընդոտում է ուղիղ եթերին:

Նախարարն Արցախում էր: Ստիպված զանգահարեցի Գլխավոր շտաբ: Ասացին, որ ԳՇ պետ Միքայել Հարությունյանը գնացել է քաղաքային գերեզմանատուն, որտեղ պիտի կայանար պատերազմում զոհված մարտիկների հիշատակին նվիրված արարողություն: Անմիջապես մեկնեցի գերեզմանոց: Երբ նրան ասացի, թե ինչ եմ առաջարկում' ինձ նայեց այնպիսի հայացքով, ինչպես բժիշկը' անհույս հիվանդին: Պահանջվեց 15 րոպեի համառություն նույնը պնդելու համար: Հիմա նույնիսկ զարմանում եմ, թե ինչպես կարողացա գտնել անհրաժեշտ բառերն ու փաստակները: Մի խոսքով, չերկարացնեմ, համոզեցի: Խոստացավ, որ հրաման կտա շքերթի պահին «մաքրել» եթերը:

Իսկ հետո… 40 րոպե շարունակ մեր երկրի երկինքն անպաշտպան էր: Ստեփանակերպում քայլերգի հնչյունների տակ անցնում էր զորքը: Բոլորը հիացմունքով դիտում էին բանակի հաղթական երթը և ոչ ոք չէր էլ կարող կռահել, թե դրանք որքան դժվարին ու լարված րոպեներ էին ՀՕՊ ստորաբաժանումների մարտիկների համար, և ինչպես էինք մենք շունչներս պահած նայում ժամացույցին, հաշվում վայրկյաններն ու սպասում, թե երբ կավարտվի 40 րոպեներից ամենաերկարը:
