ՄԱԿ-ի Անվտանգության խորհուրդը հունվարի 28-ին կես տարով՝ մինչեւ հուլիսի 31-ը երկարաձգել է Կիպրոսում խաղաղությանն աջակցող Միացյալ Ազգերի Զինված ուժերի մանդատը, իսկ առաքելության զինվորականների թիվը 860-ից հասցրել է 888-ի: Համապատասխան բանաձեւն ընդունվել է միաձայն՝ չնայած փաստաթղթի տեքստում որոշ ձեւակերպումների շուրջ Ռուսաստանի դժգոհությանը:

Փաստաթղթում նաեւ հունական եւ թուրքական կողմերին կոչ է արվում վստահության ամրապնդման ուղղությամբ միջոցներ ձեռնարկել, այդ թվում՝ բացել անցակետերը, ՄԱԿ-ի հետ խորհրդակցել անվտանգության գոտու սահմանազատման շուրջ եւ ընդլայնել ականազերծման աշխատանքների սահմանները:

Հիմնական տարաձայնությունները վերաբերել են 1974 թվականին Կիպրոս Թուրքիայի զինված ներխուժման ընթացքում անհետ կորածների խնդիրներին: Ռուսաստանը պնդել է, որպեսզի փաստաթղթում նշվի ենթադրյալ գերեզմանների վայրեր մուտքի ապահովման անհրաժեշտության մասին, որոնք ներկայում վերահսկվում են թուրքական զինվորականների կողմից: Սակայն այս ցանկությունը հաշվի չի առնվել Միացյալ Թագավորության կողմից, որը պատրաստել է բանաձեւը:

Ըստ ՏԱՍՍ-ի, ՄԱԿ-ում Ռուսաստանի մշտական ներկայացուցիչ Պյոտր Իլիչեւի խոսքով, կիպրական հարցի կարգավորման շուրջ Անկարայի հստակ վերաբերմունքը մինչեւ վերջ պարզ չէ: «Այդ մասին է խոսում, օրինակ, այն փաստը, որ թուրքական ավիացիան պարբերական ներխուժում է Կիպրոսի օդային տարածք: Վստահ ենք, որ այդպիսի գործողությունները բացասաբար են անդրադառնում բանակցությունների մթնոլորտի վրա եւ պետք է դադարեցվեն»,- հայտարարել է Իլիչեւը:
