Սիրիայի կառավարության եւ ընդդիմության պատվիրակությունները փետրվարի 2-ին Ժնեւում առաջին անգամ նույն օրն անջատ հանդիպումներ կանցկացնեն ՄԱԿ-ի գլխավոր քարտուղարի՝ Սիրիայի խնդրով հատուկ պատվիրակ Ստաֆան դե Միստուրայի հետ: Նախօրյակին միջսիրիական խաղաղ բանակցությունները պաշտոնապես սկսված են հայտարարել, տե ղեկացնում է «Արմենպրես»-ը:

«Ազգերի պալատ ընդդիմության ժամանումը եւ նրա հետ բանավեճերի սկսվելը ժնեւյան բանակցությունների պաշտոնական սկիզբն է»,- փետրվարի 1-ին լրագրողներին հայտարարել է միջազգային հանրակցության հանձնակատարը: Նրա հայտարարությունը հնչել է ի պատասխան այն թերահավատության, որն ավելի վաղ դրսեւորվել էր երկու պատվիրակությունների՝  կառավարության եւ ընդդիմադիր Բանակցությունների գծով բարձրագույն կոմիտեի ներկայացուցիչների կողմից: Երկու պատվիրակություններն էլ հայտարարել են, որ բանակցությունները, ըստ էության, այդպես էլ չեն սկսվել:

Ուստի փետրվարի 1-ին ՄԱԿ-ի եվրոպական բաժանմունքում ընդունելով ընդդիմության ներկայացուցիչներին եւ ակտիվում ունենալով կառավարության պատվիրակության հետ ավելի վաղ անցկացված համակարգող հանդիպումը, դե Միստուրան հնարավոր համարեց հայտարարել, որ անուղղակի միջսիրիական բանակցություններն, այնուամենայնիվ, մեկնարկել են:

ՄԱԿ-ի գլխավոր քարտուղար Պան Գի Մունը հայտարարել է, որ Սիրիայի կառավարությունը եւ ընդդիմությունը պետք է անհապաղ համաձայնության գան կրակի դադարեցման եւ երկրի հումանիտար իրադրության բարելավմանն ուղղված գործողությունների շուրջ:

«Չափազանց կարեւոր է, որ Սիրիայի կառավարության եւ ընդդիմության ներկայացուցիչները համաձայնության գան կրիտիկական հումանիտար իրադրության անհապաղ բարելավման եւ քաղաքական անցման շուրջ, ինչը կհամապատասխանի Սիրիայի ժողովրդի ակնկալիքներին, եւ զուգահեռաբար կրակի դադարեցման շուրջ»,- ասված է համաշխարհային կազմակերպության ղեկավարի հայտարարության մեջ, հաղորդել Է ՏԱՍՍ-ը:
