Համբույրը մարդու՝ շուրթերով հպումն է ինչ-որ բանի կամ ինչ-որ մեկին, որի նպատակն է էմոցիաների արտահայտումը կամ սեռական ակտի ժամանակ գրգռվածություն առաջացնելը: Հաճախ այն ուղեկցվում է գրկախառնությամբ: Համբույրը հիմնականում արտահայտում է սիրո զգացումը: Տարբերվում են համբույրի կեղծ և անկեղծ տեսակներ: Կեղծ համբույրներից մեզ հայտնի է <<Հուդայի համբույրը>> :
Էմոցիոնալ համբույրները կարող են ուղղված լինել ինչպես մարդուն, այնպես էլ կենդանիներին և անշունչ առարկաներին: Սրանցից յուրաքանչյուրն ունի իր առանձին նշանակությունը: Օրինակ՝ հողը համբուրելը արտահայտում է երկար սպասված վայր ժամանելու հետ կապված ուրախությունը: Հայրենի հողը համբուրելը արտահայտում է սերը և հավատարմությունը հայրենիքի հանդեպ:
Ըստ զգացմունքների արտահայտման բնույթի համբույրները լինում են.

Սիրային համբույր - արտահայտում է սիրահարների միջև սիրո և կրքի զգացումները: Սա իր հերթին կարելի է բաժանել քնքուշ և կրքոտ համբույրների: Առաջինը բնութագրվում է շուրթերի համեմատաբար կարճ ժամանակով հպումը, իսկ կրքոտի դեպքում ՝հակառակը (ստեղ էն ֆրանցուզկիի մասին ա խոսքը նաև, դե դրա մասին էլ ինձնից լավ կիմանաք :-D)


Ընկերական համբույր - արտահայտում է ընկերության և կապվածության զգացումը (ոնց որ ասում են պաչիկով բարևն ա ): Ավելի հաճախ համբուրում են այտը, իսկ հակառակ սեռի ներկայացուցիչներին՝ (այստեղ՝ միայն կանանց) նաև ձեռքը: Վերջինիս ժամանակ շուրթերի հպումը պարտադիր չէ:


Հարգանքի համբույր - արտահայտում է մարդու նկատմամբ հարգանքի զգացումը, նաև մարդու կամ իրի առաջ խոնարհվելուց: Այս դեպքում համբուրում են ձեռքը կամ մատանին: Այստեղ ևս շուրթերի հպումը պարտադիր չէ:


Գորովալից համբույր - արտահայտում է գորով, քնքշություն և ուրախություն: Ավելի հաճախ ուղղված է փոքր երեխաներին և կենդանիներին: Այս դեպքում հազվադեպ են համբուրում շուրթերը: Երեխաներին համբուրում են այտերը, քիթը (ավելի ճիշտ քիթիկը) և ճակատը: Հաճախ հպվում են ոչ թե շուրթերը, այլ այտը (մանավանդ կենդանիներին համբուրելուց):


Հայրական, որդիական, եղբայրական- արտահայտում է ընտանիքի անդամների միջև կապվածությունը:


Օդային համբույր - սիրային և ընկերական համբույրների տարատեսակներից է: Նշանակում է ուշադրություն կամ ֆլիրտ:


Հուդայի համբույր - արտահայտում է ցուցադրական կապվածություն և հարգանք:
Կա կարծիք, որ համբույրի առաջացման շրջանում այն կրել է մայրական նշանակություն: Այդ ժամանակ ջրի անոթների կարիք չի զգացվել: Տարեց մարդիկ խմել են հենց աղբյուրից, իսկ երեխաները՝ մոր բերանից:
Համբույրի միջազգային օրն առաջացել է Մեծ Բրիտանիայում , իսկ այժմ նշվում է նաև մեր երկրում :
