Այսօր ՀՀ ԱԺ-ում ճեպազրույցների ժամանակ ՀՅԴ խմբակցության ղեկավար Արմեն Ռուստամյանը խոսեց ակտիվիստ Վարդգես Գասպարիի կալանավորմանն ու ՔԿՀ-ում եղած ճնշումների մասին: Հարցին, թե արդյո՞ք ՀՅԴ-ն Վ. Գասպարիին ընդունում է որպես քաղբանտարկյալ է, Ա. Ռուստամյանը պատասխանեց. «ՀՅԴ չափորոշիչներով չէ, որ պետք է որոշվի Վարդգես Գասպարին քաղբանտարկյա՞լ է, թե՞` ոչ: Կա քաղբանտարկյալ տերմինի միջազգային հինգ չափորոշիչ, եթե Գասպարիի հետ կատարվածը համապատասխանի դրանց, ապա նա կհամարվի քաղբանտարկյալ»:
 
Ա. Ռուստամյանը նաեւ ավելացրեց, որ Վարդգես Գասպարիի հետ կապված ստորագրահավաքին իրենք միացել են, սակայն կալանավայր չեն գնացել, հետեւում են իրավիճակին, որ գործընթացը պատշաճ իրականցվի. «Պետք է հստակ թացը չորից անջատվի: Կալանավայրում մեր եղած ժամանակ էնքան ծեծ ու ջարդ է եղել, ես չեմ ասել, որ դա կազմակերպված է եղել, դե դա գողական աշխարհ է»:
 
Իսկ լրագրողներից մեկի հարցին, թե 1990-ականներին ՀՅԴ անդամների կալանավորումից հետո եղե՞լ են քաղբանտարկյալներ ՀՀ-ում, Արմեն Ռուստամյանն ասաց. «Մեզնից հետո այդ հինգ չափորոշիչներով քաղբանտարկյալներ չեն եղել: Ինչ վերաբերում է մարտի մեկի գործով կալանավորվածներին, ապա չկա այդպիսի ցուցակ, որ նրանք քաղբանտարկյալներ են: Ինչ վերաբերում է մեզ, ապա մենք այն ժամանակ պայքարել ենք իշխող ռեժիմի դեմ, կալանավորվել ենք, մի հատ էլ լինի, էլի կանեմ, ես չեմ ափսոսում իմ քայլերի համար, ու ես չեմ էլ ձգտել, որ ինձ համարեն քաղբանտարկյալ: Իսկ մեզ քաղբանտարկյալ են համարել միջազգային այդ չափորոշիչներով, եղել են հայտարարություններ, լսումներ»:
 
Պատասխանելով նաեւ այն հարցին, թե արդյո՞ք ՀՅԴ-ն ՀՀԿ հետ համագործակցության նպատակը մեկն է՝ արգելափակել Ռոբերտ Քոչարյանի մուտքն ակտիվ քաղաքականություն, Արմեն Ռուստամյանն նկատեց. «Ռոբերտ Քոչարյանին քաղաքական դաշտից օտարելու մեջ մեղադրում են մի քաղաքական ուժի՝ ՀՅԴ, որը այդ անձի հետ երկար տարիներ համագործակցել է, իսկ հիմա նրան պիտի համարենք թիվ մեկ թշնամի՞: Ո՞ւմ ինչ ցավն է՝ Քոչարյանը կվերադառնա՞, թե՝ ոչ»:
