 Շոտլանդական խորհրդարանի անդամ Նատալի Մակգերին պատմել է այն «սարսափելի փորձառության» մասին, որն ունեցել է Թուրքիա կատարած այցի ժամանակ: Ինչպես հաղորդում է Արմենպրեսը՝ վկայակոչելով The Guardian պարբերականը, թուրքական իշխանությունները նրան ձերբակալել են քրդաբնակ Սուր շրջանի տարածքում, ուր խորհրդարանականը եկել էր բրիտանական պատվիրակության հետ՝ նպատակ ունենալով լուսաբանել թուրքական կառավարության և քրդերի միջև առկա հակամարտությունը:

Մակգերիի խոսքով՝ ձերբակալության պատճառը եղել է այն, որ նա ցանկացել է օգտագործել բջջային հեռախոսը՝ ձայնագրելու ռումբերի ձայնը, որն այդ պահին Դիարբեքիրի վրա արձակել էին թուրքական զինված ուժերը: Այդ պահին թուրք սպան ձերբակալել է նրան և հրմշտելով տարել մի վայր, որտեղ շատ զենք է եղել: Այստեղ խորհրդարանականին պահել են երկու ժամ և թույլ են տվել խոսել թարգմանչի հետ միայն 45 րոպե հարցաքննելուց հետո:

«Ինձ բռնի ուժով փողոցից հեռացրեց մի մարդ, ով մի քանի անգամ ինձ հրեց և կհարվածեր, եթե նրա ավելի երիտասարդ գործընկերները չմիջամտեին»,- պատմել է Մակգերին՝ հայտնելով, որ իրեն ազատ են արձակել միայն, երբ գործի են դրվել դիվանագիտական լծակները: Նա շնորհակալություն է հայտնել բրիտանական դեսպանությանն օպերատիվ գործողություններով իրեն ազատ արձակելու համար, ինչպես նաև Սուրի քրդերին, ովքեր գրկել են նրան և թեյ են հյուրասիրել ազատ արձակումից հետո: «Ես անկեղծ խոստովանում եմ, որ լալիս էի, երբ ինձ ազատ արձակեցին: Դա սարսափելի փորձառություն էր, թեպետ ընդամենը մի քանի ժամ տևեց»,- գրել է նա «Թվիթեր»-ի իր միկրոբլոգում:

Վերադառնալով տուն՝ նա հորդորել է ՆԱՏՕ-ին միջամտել թուրքական կառավարության և քրդերի միջև առկա հակամարտությանը և ստիպել դադարեցնել այն:
