 Ավստրալիայի Ներկայացուցիչների պալատում Հյուսիսային Սիդնեյի նորընտիր պատգամավոր Թրենթ Զիմմերմանն իր առաջին ելույթում կոչ է արել Թուրքիային ճանաչել Հայոց ցեղասպանությունը: Պատգամավորը Ներկայացուցիչների պալատում կփոխարինի հայկական արմատներով ավստրալացի գործիչ Ջո Հոքին, ով ներկայում Ավստրալիայի դեսպանն է ԱՄՆ-ում և երկար ժամանակ Հայոց ցեղասպանության ճանաչման ջատագովն է եղել: Զիմմերմանն իր ելույթում ընդգծել է, որ պատմական սարսափելի իրադարձությունները` 1915թ. Օսմանյան Կայսրության ծրագրած և իրագործած Հայոց ցեղասպանությունը, միլիոնավոր հայերի տառապանքի պատճառ է դարձել: «Հայերը պատմական մեծ անարդարություն տեսած ժողովուրդ են: Նրանք այն քչերից են, ում նկատմամբ ցեղասպանություն է իրագործվել, և այդ իրադարձությունների սարսափելի կնիքը այսօր կրում է նրանց համայնքը: Նման սարսափելի իրադարձությունների ամոքման լավագույն եղանակը դրանց ճանաչումն է, քավությունը և հաշտեցումը: Հուսով եմ, որ մի օր Թուրքիան, միջազգային հանրությունը` ի դեմ ԱՄՆ-ի, կճանաչեն Հայոց ցեղասպանությունը»,- Արմենպրեսի հաղորդմամբ` ասել է նորընտիր պատգամավորը:
