The 9 Most Overrated Starbucks Drinks of All Time

Everybody loves to love a Starbucks drink — it's an adorable beverage, it's a way to start your morning, it's an accessory for your latest Instagram picture. The dirty secret, a bigger secret than their secret menu, is that they're actually pretty overrated. Cosmopolitan.com asked 18 people what drinks they think are overrated and why. Here are their thoughts. 

1.  Latte

"They don't taste very coffee-y. They taste more like warmed milk with some other flavor added. If you get an extra shot added, they'll taste more like a proper latte, but then that's more expensive! I only get a latte there when I've earned my free drink and don't care about adding shots." — Brenda 

2. Pumpkin Spice Latte

"Here's the thing about PSLs: They're not bad. They're also not literally the greatest beverage created by (wo)mankind, which is how they're hyped. That's the definition of overrated. Also,they kind of taste like burnt rubber. You snort now, but next time you take a sip of a PSL, think about the burnt rubber thing and you'll notice it every time. Maybe some people just really like burnt rubber." — Tara 

"PSLs are great the first time per season and then never again. They're inconsistent! Why do they sometimes taste like a pumpkin vomited and then sometimes like melted wax?Why??" — Rose

"I tasted it once, and to be fair maybe it was a bad round, but it generally tasted like feet. I don't get the PSL thing at all. I feel like its a thing everyone pretends to like, like Scandal, but is actually terrible." — Caroline

"The PSL is so overrated. Better now that they fixed the syrup and it's not just food coloring and chemicals, but still, just ... not the amazing, be-all-end-all festive fall drink it's made out to be. If I'm going to have that much sugar, give me a really awesome cup of coffee and a piece of pumpkin pie or pumpkin muffin instead." — Jessica

3. Flat white 

"I don't  think the flat white tastes like an authentic Australian flat white. It just takes like coffee with milk." — Denise

4. Blonde roast

"Blonde roast are for the type of person who says Starbucks is "too strong." But if you think Starbucks is "too strong," then maybe you should brew your own water-coffee at home. You shouldn't get your own special weakling blend." —Taylor

5. Skinny vanilla latte

"Vanilla latte = basic. SKINNY vanilla latte = extra basic. It's basically the gateway Starbucks drink for kids to drink coffee without actually drinking coffee." —Susan

6. Mocha

"Starbucks' mocha is a full-on disappointment. I used to be a big fan of the peppermint mocha, but these days, usually stick to iced single reserve coffees, cold brew, and Americanos. The last two times I've thought to order the regular mocha or peppermint mocha, it's way too sweet and/or tastes like Hershey's chocolate milk with a tiny bit of burnt-tasting espresso. Womp womp. Not worth it." —Alanna

7. Any drink with soy or almond milk

"When one freaking cup of coffee ends up costing more than a gallon of almond milk, you know you've been had. Call me cheap but it's bullshit that they charge you an  extra what, 60 cents, whether you order a latte or a coffee with a teeny splash of milk. They should pay me for saving cows." — Tina

8. Frappuccinos 

"The flavor is usually pretty good, although it's artificial. I hate how you suck all the syrup out and then are left with a cup full of crushed ice." —Julianna

"I think that basically all of the Frappucinnos are overrated, I'm sorry. They just all taste like sugar? I love sugar though, so it's fine." — Kendall
