ՄԱԿ-ի գլխավոր քարտուղար Պան Գի Մունը հայտարարել է, որ ահաբեկիչների խմբավորումից Սիրիայի Պալմիրա հնագույն քաղաք ազատումը երջանիկ իրադարձություն է եւ կարեւոր է քաղաքի մշակութային արժեքների պահպանման համար: Նա հույս է հայտնել, որ Սիրիայի իշխանություններին կհաջողվի վերականգնել մշակութային ժառանգության օբյեկտը:

Սիրիական բանակը եւ «Անապատի բազեներ» աշխարհազորի մարտիկները մարտի 27-ին «Իսլամական պետություն» ահաբեկչական խմբավորումից ամբողջությամբ ազատել են Պալմիրան: Ռուսական օդուժն այդ օրը 40 թռիչք է կատարել քաղաքի ուղղությամբ եւ հարվածներ հասցրել զինյալների 117 օբյեկտների: Պալմիրան, որի հնագույն ավերակները Սիրիայում ՅՈՒՆԵՍԿՕ-ի համաշխարհային ժառանգության վեց օբյեկտներից մեկն է, ԻՊ-ի հսկողության տակ էր գտնվում 2015 թվականի մայիսից:

Ամմանում ելույթ ունենալով մամուլի ասուլիսում, գլխավոր քարտուղարը նշել է ապագա սերունդների համար հնագույն քաղաքի պատմական մասը պահպանելու անհրաժեշտությունը: «Մենք ոգեշնչված ենք ու երջանիկ, որ Սիրիայի կառավարական ուժերը կարողացան վերադարձնել Պալմիրան, ջախջախել ԴԱԻՇ-ին եւ այժմ կկարողանան պահպանել ու պաշտպանել այդ ընդհանուր մշակութային արժեքները»,- ասել է Պան Գի Մունը:

Ավելի վաղ Ռուսաստանի նախագահ Վլադիմիր Պուտինը Սիրիայի նախագահ Բաշար Ասադի հետ կայացած հեռախոսազրույցի ընթացքում հայտնել է, որ պաշտպանության նախարարությանը հանձնարարել է առավելագույն աջակցություն ցուցաբերել Սիրիային Պալմիրայի ազատագրված տարածքների ականազերծման գործում՝ հաշվի առնելով դրանց կարեւորությունը համաշխարհային մշակույթի համար: Ինչպես հայտնել է Կրեմլի մամուլի ծառայությունը, Ասադն իր հերթին հայտարարել է, որ ակնկալում է միջազգային հանրակցության ակտիվ աջակցությունը հնագույն քաղաքի վերականգնման գործում:

Պալմիրայի ազատումը ողջունել է նաեւ ՅՈՒՆԵՍԿՕ-ի գլխավոր տնօրեն Իրինա Բոկովան, հաղորդել է ՌԻԱ Նովոստին:
