Աշխատանքային այցով Ամերիկայի Միացյալ Նահանգներում գտնվող Նախագահ Սերժ Սարգսյանը մարտի 30-ին հանդիպում է ունեցել Մասաչուսեթսի նահանգապետ Չարլզ Բեյքերի հետ: Դիմավորման հանդիսավոր արարողությունից հետո կայացած հանդիպմանը ՀՀ Նախագահը գոհունակությամբ է փաստել, որ Հայաստանի և Միացյալ Նահանգների միջև առկա են սերտ գործընկերային, բարեկամական հարաբերություններ և երախտագիտություն է հայտնել այն շարունակական աջակցության համար, որ ԱՄՆ-ը ցուցաբերում է Հայաստանին ամենատարբեր ոլորտներում:

Ինչպես  տեղեկանում ենք  ՀՀ Նախագահի աշխատակազմի հասարակայնության եւ տեղեկատվության միջոցների հետ կապերի վարչությունից, երկկողմ միջպետական հարաբերությունների զարգացման գործում Սերժ Սարգսյանը մեծապես կարևորել է նահանգների և հատկապես Մասաչուսեթ¬սի դերակատարությունը: Հանրապետության Նախագահը նշել է, թե Հայաստանը կարևորում է ապակենտրոնացված համագործակցությունը և այդ առումով ցանկանում է ուղիղ կապեր հաստատել Մասաչուսեթս նահանգի հետ: Համագործակցությունը, Նախագահի համոզմամբ, կարող է կրել ինչպես ճանաչողական բնույթ, այնպես էլ նպաստել կրթության, գիտության, տեղեկատվական տեխնոլոգիաների և մի շարք այլ ոլորտներում սերտ կապերի հաստատմանը:

ՀՀ Նախագահը երախտագիտություն է հայտնել Հայոց ցեղասպանության ճանաչման հարցում նահանգապետ Չարլի Բեյքերի վճռական դիրքորոշման և հայ ժողովրդին աջակից լինելու համար: Սերժ Սարգսյանը նշել է, թե ուրախ է, որ Մասաչուսեթս նահանգի ղեկավարությունը պատմականորեն արդար դիրքորոշում է ունեցել այս հարցում, ինչի մասին է վկայում այն, որ 19-րդ դարավերջի համիդյան ջարդերից և Հայոց ցեղասպանությունից մազապուրզ հայերի մի ստվար մաս հաստատվեց հենց այս նահանգում: Ըստ Նախագահի, այդ մասին է խոսում նաև այն, որ նահանգային դպրոցներում Հայոց ցեղասպանության պատմություն է դասավանդվում:

ՀՀ Նախագահը բարձր է գնահատել Ամերիկայի անկախության համար մղված պայքարում վճռական դեր կատարած Մասաչուսեթս նահանգի առանձնակի վերաբերմունքը ԼՂ հիմնախնդրի նկատմամբ:

Առանձնացնելով Մասաչուսեթսի պատկառելի ներուժը գիտակրթական ոլորտում և նշելով, որ բավական է միայն նահանգում գտնվող մի շարք հեղինակավոր բուհերի շարքում հիշատակել Հարվարդի համալսարանն ու Մասաչուսեթսի տեխնոլոգիաների ինստիուտը, Նախագահ Սերժ Սարգսյանը երախտագիտությամբ է նշել, որ Մասաչուսեթսը և ընդհանրապես ԱՄՆ-ն իր գիտակրթական ներուժով Հայաստանի անկախությունից ի վեր նպաստել է նաև մեր պետականության ամրապնդմանը: Բարձր որակավորում ունեցող մասնագետների պատրաստման գործում ՀՀ Նախագահը բարձր է գնահատել ամերիկյան կառավարության աջակցությունը:

Ընդգծելով, որ Հայաստան-Մասաչուսեթս հարաբերություններն ունեն խոստումնալից ապագա և Հայաստանը շահագրգռված է Մասաչուսեթսի հետ ակտիվ կապեր հաստատելու հարցում, Սերժ Սարգսյանը հրավիրել է նահանգապետ Չարլի Բեյքերին մեր երկիր։
