Դե՛ն նետեք ամեն տեսակ չար մտածում ու նենգություն, կեղծավորություն ու նախանձ և ամեն տեսակ չարախոսություն։ Որպես հավատի նորածին մանուկներ՝ փափագո՛ղ եղեք Աստծու խոսքի անխարդախ կաթին, որպեսզի նրանով աճեք ու հասնեք փրկության։ «Եթե մի անգամ Տիրոջ խոսքի համն առնեք, կտեսնեք, որ քաղցր է նա»։ Մոտեցե՛ք նրան՝ Քրիստոսին, որովհետև նա՛ է այն կենդանի վեմը, որը թեև մարդկանցից մերժված, բայց Աստծուց է ընտրված և պատվական վեմն է։ Այսպիսով՝ դուք էլ, իբրև կենդանի քարեր, Քրիստոսի վեմի վրա կառուցվում եք որպես հոգևոր տաճար. յուրաքանչյուրդ դառնում եք անարատ քահանաներ և Հիսուս Քրիստոսի միջոցով Աստծուն մատուցում ընդունելի հոգևոր պատարագ. որովհետև մարգարեության մեջ գրված է. «Ահա ես Սիոնի մեջ դնում եմ ընտրված մի վեմ, թանկագին մի անկյունաքար. ով հավատում է նրան, հուսախաբ չի լինի»։

Քանի որ հավատացիք Քրիստոսին, նա ձեզ համար թանկագին վեմը եղավ, մինչդեռ չհավատացողների համար նա «Այն քարն է, որ թեև շինարարները մերժեցին գործածել, բայց ի՛նքը եղավ անկյունաքարը». կամ՝ «Այն քարն է, որ գլորման և գայթակղության առիթ» պիտի լինի նրանց համար, ովքեր անհամոզիչ գտնելով Աստծու խոսքը՝ գայթակղվում են, ինչպես որ Աստված նախատեսել էր։ Գալով ձեզ՝ դուք ընտրյալ մի ցեղ եք, թագավորելու կոչված քահանաներ, մի սուրբ ազգ, Աստծու սեփական ժողովուրդը, և ձեր պարտականությունն է քարոզել նրա՛ զորությունը, ով խավարից ձեզ կանչեց իր սքանչելի լույսին։ Որովհետև դուք այժմ Աստծու ժողովուրդն եք, մինչդեռ նախապես նրանը չէիք. այժմ վայելում եք նրա ողորմությունը, մինչդեռ նախապես զրկված էիք դրանից։
