ԱՄՆ-ն կանգնած է հայ ժողովրդի կողքին` հիշելով Մեծ եղեռնի սարսափը. Բարաք Օբամա

Սպիտակ տան մամլո քարտուղարությունը հրապարակել է ԱՄՆ նախագահ Բարաք Օբամայի հայտարարությունը Հայոց ցեղասպանության ոգեկոչման օրվա առթիվ: Վկայակոչելով Tert.am-ին` այս մասին հայտնում է «Արմենպրես»-ը:

«Այսօր հանդիսավոր կերպով ոգեկոչում ենք 20-րդ դարի առաջին զանգվածային վայրագության` Հայոց Մեծ եղեռնի հիշատակը, երբ միլիոն ու կես հայերի տեղահանել, կոտորել և  արտաքսել են Օսմանյան կայսրության վերջին օրերին:

Հարգելով 1915-ի մռայլ օրերին տուժած մարդկանց հիշատակը և պարտավորվելով սովորել այս ողբերգությունից, որպեսզի այն երբևէ չկրկնվի` հարգանքի տուրք ենք մատուցում նաև նրանց օգնության հասած մարդկանց, որոնց թվում  էր ԱՄՆ դեսպան Հենրի Մորգենթաուն, ով իր ձայնը բարձրացրեց` փորձելով վերջ դնել բռնությանը: Նման ձայները, ինչպիսին Մորգենթաուինն է, շարունակում են կարևոր լինել վայրագությունների կանխման գործում:

Սա նաև հայ ժողովրդի ճկունությունը գնահատելու պահն է: Մենք հիշում են, թե ինչպես են հազարավոր հայ փախստականներ տասնյակ տարիներ առաջ նոր կյան ք սկսել Միացյալ Նահանգներում` կազմելով կենսունակ ու զարգացած համայնք: Մենք շնորհակալ ենք նաև Հայաստանի ժողովրդին  17  հազար սիրիացի փախստականների իրենց երկրում ընդունելու համար:

Անցյալից նայելով ապագային` մենք շարունակում ենք կարևորել պատմական հիշողությունը` որպես կանխման միջոց,  և կոչ ենք անում փաստերի ամբողջական ու ազնիվ ճանաչման, ինչը կծառայի բոլոր կողմերի շահերին:  Ես հետևողականորեն հայտնել եմ իմ սեփական տեսակետը 1915-ին տեղի ունեցածի վերաբերյալ, և իմ տեսակետը չի փոխվել:

Մենք ողջունում ենք այն մարդկանց տեսակետները, ովքեր փորձում են նոր լույս սփռել անցյալի մթության վրա` սկսած հայ և թուրք պատմաբաններից մինչև Ֆրանցիսկոս պապը:
Այսօր մենք կանգնած ենք հայ ժողովրդի կողքին`  ողջ աշխարհում հիշելով Մեծ եղեռնի սարսափը և վերահաստատելով մեր աջակցությունը ժողովրդավար, խաղաղ և բարգավաճող Հայաստանին»,- ասել է ԱՄՆ նախագահը:
