 Լեգենդար մարզիկ Շավարշ Կարապետյանը Երևանում է և մասնակցում է «Ավրորա» մրցանակաբաշխությանը: «Արմենպրես»-ի փոխանցմամբ՝ մրցանակաբաշխության հանդիսավոր արարողության ժամանակ հանդիսավար, երգչուհի Հասմիկ Պապյանը ներկայացրեց մարզիկին որպես բացառիկ մի անձնավորության, ով երեք անգամ վտանգի է ենթարկել իր կյանքը մյուսներին փրկելու համար:

Ապրիլի 24-ին Երևանում առաջին անգամ անցկացվում է «Ավրորա» մրցանակաբաշխությունը, որը շնորհվումէ Հայոց ցեղասպանությունը վերապրածներիանունից և ի երախտագիտություն նրանց,ովքեր փրկության ձեռք մեկնեցին հայժողովրդին: Դափնեկիրն ստանալու է 100․000ԱՄՆ դոլարի պարգև և նվիրատվության շղթանշարունակելու հնարավորություն` 1.000.000ԱՄՆ դոլարի դրամաշնորհի ներկայացնելով իրեն ոգեշնչած մարդասիրական կազմակերպություններին:

«Մի անգամ դա տեղի է ունեցել հենց այս շենքում, ուր այժմ բոլորս հավաքված ենք (խմբ. խոսքը Մարզահամերգային համալիրի մասին է): Նրա առաջին հերոսական քայլը գաղտնի է եղել վեց տարի և միայն ռուս մի լրագրողի՝ իր ազնվության ու իր կոչմանը հավատարիմ մնալու շնորհիվ խիզախության ու անձնազոհության այս դրվագը դարձավ հասարակության սեփականությունը»,-ասաց Հասմիկ Պապյանը՝ առաջարկելով ծափերով ողջունել  աշխարհի բազմակի ռեկորդակիր ու չեմպիոն Շավարշ Կարապետյանին:

1974թ. երիտասարդ մարմնամարզիկը կարողացել է կանխել 30 ուղևոր տեղափոխող ավտոբուսի վթարը. վարորդն այն կայանել էրմեխանիկական ինչ-որ անսարքություն վերացնելու համար, սակայն շարժիչը թողել էր միացրած։

1976 թվականի սեպտեմբերի 16-ին Շավարշ Կարապետյանը առանց հապաղելու նետվում է փրկելու Երևանյան լճում հայտնված տրոլեյբուսի ուղևորներին և կարողանում փրկել 20 ուղևորի՝ արդյունքում ստանալով արյան վարակ, թոքերի բորբոքում:

1985 թվականին Շավարշ Կարապետյանը կրկին հայտնվում է մի վայրում, ուր մարդիկ օգնության կարիք ունեին: ԵրևանիՄարզահամերգային համալիրի շրջակայքում քայլելիս նա տեսնում է, թե ինչպես է շենքում հրդեհ բռնկվում ու կրկին առաջիններից մեկն է լինում, ով փրկում է բազմաթիվ մարդկանց՝ ստանալով վերքեր և այրվածքներ:

Կարապետյանը հարկադրված թողել է մեծ սպորտը 24 տարեկանում՝ ջրասուզալողի ասպարեզում սահմանելով 11համաշխարհային ռեկորդ, նվաճելով համաշխարհային մրցաշարերի 17, եվրոպական մրցաշարերի 13 և խորհրդայինմրցաշարերի 7 տիտղոս։

2010 թ. մայիսի 24-ին Շավարշ Կարապետյանը ՀՀ Նախագահի հրամանագրով պարգևատրվել է Արիության մեդալով:
