 Թուրքիան մերժել է արգենտինացի դիվանագետ Էստանիսլաու Անխել Զավելսի թեկնածությունը որպես իր երկրում Արգենտինայի դեսպան` Զավելսի կողմից Հայոց ցեղասպանության հարցում ունեցած դիրքորոշման պատճառով: Ինչպես հաղորդում է «Արմենպրես»-ը, այս մասին տեղեկացնում է Prensa Armenia-ն:

Արգենտինական Clarin պարբերականը գրել է, որ Զավելսի թեկնածությունն առաջադրել են մի խումբ նախկին դիվանագետներ, ովքեր հաշվի են առել այն փաստը, որ նրա հայրը երկար տարիներ զբաղեցրել է Թուրքիայում դեսպանի պաշտոնը: Սակայն հարցն այն է, որ Զավելս կրտսերը մի շարք դիվանագիտական հոդվածների հեղինակ է, որոնցից մեկը, գրված 2012 թվականին, կոչվում է. «Նոթեր ցեղասպանության մասին»: Հոդվածում ասվում է. «Ցեղասպանության վերջին փուլը դրա գոյության ժխտումն է: Շատ հայտնի է Հայոց ցեղասպանության հարցով Թուրքիայի դեպքը: Մինչև վերջին ժամանակներս պաշտոնական քաղաքականության մաս է այն ժխտելը»: Դիվանագետի կողմից նման գրառման առկայությունը բավական էր, որպեսզի նրա նշանակման հնարավորությունը աղմուկ բարձրացներ Թուրքիայում:

Հայ դատի Հարավային Ամերիկայի հանձնախմբի տնօրեն Ալֆոնսո Տաբակյանը նշել է, որ Թուրքիայի կողմից լոբբիստական կազմակերպությունների միջոցով տարբեր երկրներում իրականացվող ճնշումներն իր համար նորություն չեն:  «Էրդողանն ուզում է ունենալ միայն այնպիսի դիվանագետներ, ովքեր կասեն այն, ինչ ինքը կցանկանար լսել»,- ասել է նա:
