Հայ Առաքելական եկեղեցու Կանադայի Հայոց թեմի առաջնորդ Աբգար եպիսկոպոս Հովակիմյանը հանդիպել է Կանադայի արտաքին գործերի նախարար Ստեֆան Դիոնին: Եպիսոկոպոսը կանադահայերի անունից շնորհակալություն է հայտնել Հայոց ցեղասպանության հարցում սկզբունքային դիրքորոշման համար և բարձր է գնահատել Կանադայի դերը ցեղասպանությունների կանխարգելման գործում: Ինչպես հաղորդում է Արմենպրեսը՝ վկայակոչելով Nouvelles d'Armenie-ն, Աբգար Հովակիմյանը Կանադայի ԱԳ նախարարի ուշադրությունն է հրավիրել Արցախի նկատմամբ Ադրբեջանի սանձազերծած ագրեսիայի ուղղությամբ և կոչ արել Ստեֆան Դիոնին՝   դատապարտել Ադրբեջանին՝ 1994-1995 թվականների Հայաստանի, Լեռնային Ղարաբաղի և Ադրբեջանի ստորագրած հրադադարի ռեժիմի պահպանման համաձայնագրերը չկատարելու համար:

Եպիսկոպոսը նախարարին է ներկայացրել Ադրբեջանի կողմից Արցախի խաղաղ բնակչության, այդ թվում՝ երեխաների նկատմամբ իրականացված ոճրագործությունների դեպքերը: Նորին գերազանցությունը կարևորել է միջազգային հանրության կողմից  Ադրբեջանին ագրեսոր ճանաչելը և ընդգծել, որ Լեռնային Ղարաբաղի հակամարտության կարգավորման համապարփակ և արդար լուծումն Արցախի Հանրապետության անկախության միջազգային ճանաչումն է: Կանադահայերի հոգևոր առաջնորդը կոչ է արել Կանադայի իշխանություններին՝ ճանաչել Արցախի ժողովրդի ազատ, լեգիտիմ և անկախ ապրելու կամքը:

Հանդիպման ավարտին Աբգար Հովակիմյանը կարևորել է Հայաստանում Կանադայի դեսպանության բացումը և կոչ արել Կանադայի ԱԳ նախարարին՝ պաշտոնական այց կատարել Հայաստան:
