Ապրիլյան պատերազմի բռնկումը որքան տեղական ռազմաքաղաքական զարգացումների, նույնքան էլ տարածաշրջանային և աշխարհաքաղաքական գործընթացների հետևանք էր։

Եթե դիտարկենք Արցախյան հակամարտության սրացումը մերձավորարևելյան խմորումների կոնտեքստում, ապա կհամոզվենք, որ այն անուղղակիորեն կրում է տարածաշրջանային անկայունության ալիքը, և այստեղ ավելի հստակ է ուրվագծվում հակամարտության մեջ տարածաշրջանային խաղացող համարվող Թուրքիայի ազդեցությունը։

Այն, որ Թուրքիան մշտապես աջակցել է Ադրբեջանին հակամարտության մեջ ոչ միայն վերջինիս հետ դաշնակցային հարաբերություններից ելնելով, այլ նաև թուրանականության գաղափարի իրագործման հեռահար նպատակով։ Սակայն ինչու հենց այս շրջանում Թուրքիան շրջվեց դեպի Հարավային Կովկաս։

Դիտարկելով վերջին 5 տարվա կտրվածքով Թուրքիայի վարած քաղաքականությունը մերձավորարևելյան հակամարտությունների մեջ, կարող ենք փաստել, որ այս երկիրը, ուղղակի և անուղղակի կերպով ներգրավված լիենելով մի շարք կոնֆլիկտների՝ Սիրիական պատերազմ, «Իսլամական պետություն»-Սիրիայի քրդեր և այլն, ձգտնել է հնարավորինս ընդլայնել իր հարավարևելյան սահամանները Սիրիայի և Իրաքի հյուսիսային շրջանների հաշվին։

Սիրիական ողջ հակամարտության ընթացքում կրակի վրա յուղ լցրած Թուրքիայի ծրագրերին զգալի հարված հասցրին ԱՄՆ-ի կողմից՝ «Իսլամական պետություն» ահաբեկչական կազմակերպության դեմ ցամաքային պայքարում օգտագործվող քրդական YPG–ի (ըստ թուրքական իշխանությունների սա PKK-ի Սիրիայի մասնաճյուղի ռազմական թևն է) զինված շարքերը, որոնք ռազմական առավելության հասնելով Թուրքիայի հետ սերտորեն համագործակցող ահաբեկիչների նկատմամբ Հյուսիսային Սիրայիում, վերջնականապես չեզոքացրին այս շրջանների վրա Թուրքիայի հավակնությունները՝ միաժամանակ ազդարարելով այստեղ քրդական նոր պետական միավոր ձևավորելու մեկնարկը։ Իսկ ռուսական օդուժի՝ ԻՊ-ի հենակետերին հասցված առաջին ավիահարվածներով Սիրայում տարածքային հավակնություններից զատ ոչնչացվեցին նաև Թուրքիայի՝ հակամարտության մեջ ռազմաքաղաքական ազդեցություն ընդլայնելու ակնկալիքները։

Այս բոլորին զուհագեռ՝ միջազգային պատժամիջոցների չեզոքացմամ տարածաշրջան «վերադրաձավ» Իրանը, որի ազդեցությունը Իրաքում և արաբական աշխարհի շիա մուսուլմանների վրա օրեցօր ավելի առարկայական և շոշափելի է դառնում, ինչը հարավածում է ինչպես Սաուդյան Արաբիայի, այնպես էլ Թուրքիայի տարածաշրջանային նկրտումներին։ Սակայն միջազգային պատժամիջոցները թոթափած Իրանն իր գործուն՝ առնվազն կրոնական ներկայությունն ունի նաև շիա իսլամ մեծամասնություն ունեցող Ադրբեջանում։

Այսպիսով, համադրելով մերձավորարևելյան այս զարգացումները՝ Իրանի ազդեցության ամրապնդումը տարածաշրջանում, Թուրքիայի ձախողումը մերավորարևելյան կոնֆլիկտներում և ռուս-թուրքական շահերի բախումն այստեղ շրջեցին Թուրքիայի հայացքը դեպի Հարավային Կովկաս։ Հայ-ադրբջանական կոնֆլիկտի թեժացման մեջ Թուրքիան հետապնդում էր երկու նպատակ՝ Ադրբեջանի միջոցով հարվածել ռուսական ազեցության գոտու սահամաններին Հարավային Կովկասում, այնպես ինչպես ՌԴ-ն, Թուրքիայի ընկամամբ, հարվածեց իր շահերին թուրք-սիրիական սահմաններին, և երկրորդ՝ նվազեցնել Իրանի հավակնություններն Ադրբեջանում։ Եվ ապրիլյան թեժացումների օրերին Թուրքիայում կայացած Իսլամական համագործակցության կազմակերպության հերթական վեհաժողովի ընթացքում պատատահական չէին Իրանի ազդեցության տակ գտնվող շիա կիսալուսնի երկրների շարքից դուրս գալու կոչերը։
