Հայաստանում ԱՄՆ դեսպան Ռիչարդ Միլսը Վիեննայում Հայաստանի ու Ադրբեջանի նախագահների հանդիպման արդյունքները դրական է գնահատում: «Կարծում եմ, որ երկուշաբթի օրը Վիեննայից ստացված լուրերը շատ դրական էին, դա ձեռքբերում էր, որ երկու կողմերն էլ վերահաստատեցին իրենց հանձնառությունը 1994 և 1995 թվականների հրադադարի հաստատման և ամրապնդման համաձայնագրերին»,-«Արմենպրես»-ի փոխանցմամբ` մայիսի 18-ին լրագրողների հետ ճեպազրույցում հայտնեց Ռիչարդ Միլսը` պատասխանելով հարցին` «Վիեննայում բանակցությունների գլխավոր ձեռքբերումն այն էր, որ նախագահները պայմանավորվել են պահպանել հրադադարի ռեժիմը, սակայն նույն պարտավորությունները կային 1994 թվականից ի վեր, բայց դա չխանգարեց, որ Ադրբեջանը ապրիլին լայնամասշտաբ ռազմական գործողություններ սկսի, ինչո՞ւ է մասնավորապես ամերիկյան կողմը համոզված, որ միգուցե այս անգամ հրադադարը կպահպանվի»:

Դեսպանի կարծիքով` այն, որ կողմերը պատրաստ են աշխատել ղարաբաղա-ադրբեջանական շփման գծի երկայնքով հետաքննության մեխանիզմների ներդրման ուղղությամբ, բարի կամքի և պատրաստակամության դրսևորում է: Նա շեշտեց, որ Մինսկի խմբի համանախագահները պատրաստ են հետամուտ լինել և զարգացնել այդ հանձնառությունը: Նա նաև անդրադարձավ Սարգսյան-Ալիև` հունիսին սպասվող հնարավոր հանդիպմանը` նշելով, որ իրենք լավատեսորեն են տրամադրված: «Համանախագահները, իմ երկրի կառավարությունը լիահույս են, որ այդ հանդիպումը կբերի դրական արդյունքներ և կհանգեցնի նրան, ինչին մենք բոլորս ձգտում ենք՝ Լեռնային Ղարաբաղի խնդրի համակողմանի կարգավորման»,-ընդգծեց Հայաստանում ԱՄՆ դեսպանը:

Վիեննայում մայիսի 16-ի երեկոյան Հայաստանի Հանրապետության Նախագահ Սերժ Սարգսյանը և Ադրբեջանի Հանրապետության նախագահ Իլհամ Ալիևը մասնակցել են ԵԱՀԿ Մինսկի խմբի համանախագահող երկրների արտաքին գործերի նախարարների նախաձեռնությամբ և ԱՄՆ պետքարտուղար Ջոն Քերիի, ՌԴ արտգործնախարար Սերգեյ Լավրովի, Ֆրանսիայի եվրոպական հարցերով պետքարտուղար Արլեմ Դեզիրի մասնակցությամբ տեղի ունեցած քննարկմանը: Հանդիպմանը մասնակցել են երկու երկրների արտաքին գործերի նախարարներ Էդվարդ Նալբանդյանը և Էլմար Մամեդյարովը, դեսպաններ Իգոր Պոպովը (Ռուսաստան), Ջեյմս Ուորլիքը (ԱՄՆ), Պիեռ Անդրիոն (Ֆրանսիա) և ԵԱՀԿ գործող նախագահի անձնական ներկայացուցիչ Անջեյ Կասպրշիկը:
