Եվրամիությունը մտադիր է հակառուսաստանյան պատժամիջոցները երկարաձգել եւս կես տարով, սակայն Մոսկվայի հետ Եվրոպայի հարաբերությունների շրջադարձային կետն արդեն մոտ է, հայտնում է ՏԱՍՍ-ը` վկայակոչելով  Financial Times-ին:

«ԵՄ-ը մտադիր է եւս վեց ամսով երկարաձգել Ուկրաինայի հետ կապված հակառուսաստանյան պատժամիջոցները, չնայած դաշինքի մի շարք անդամների մոտ Մոսկվայի հանդեպ տրամադրվածության մեղմման ազդանշաններին, տեղեկացնում է պարբերականը: Դիվանագետները վախենում էին, թե նման քայլը կարող է խոշոր  քաղաքական ճակատամարտ առաջացնել մի կողմից այնպիսի պետությունների միջեւ, ինչպիսիք են Հունգարիան, Հունաստանը եւ Իտալիան, որոնք հանդես են գալիս հօգուտ   պատժամիջոցների վերանայման, մյուս կողմից` ավելի  «ճուռակային» երկրների, ներառյալ Լեհաստանը եւ Բալթիայի երկրները, որոնք ցանկանում են (պատժամիջոցային) ռեժիմի շարունակում»:

«Լիովին հավանական է, շարունակել է Financial Times-ը, որ (պատժամիջոցների) շարունակումը հավանության կարժանանա դեսպանների հանդիպմանը ԵՄ-ի առաջնորդների կողմից առանց քննարկման, ձեւական որոշման ընդունման դեպքում»:

Թերթը նաեւ ընդգծում է, որ «որոշ երկրներ դիտարկում են այն հարցը, թե չարժե միաժամանակ քաղաքական ազդանշան ուղարկել Մոսկվային` նշելով, որ եվրոպական պատժամիջոցային քաղաքականությունը շրջադարձային պահի է մոտենում»:

Բրիտանական գործարար շրջանակների պարբերականի կարծիքով, պատժամիջոցների շարունակումը «կցուցադրի դաշինքի ներսում առկա խախուտ միասնությունը այն հարցի վերաբերյալ, որը պոտենցիալ պառակտումով է սպառնում» ԵՄ-ի ներսում:

«Սակայն այդ քայլն արվել է քաղաքական տրամադրությունների փոփոխությունների վերաբերյալ ուժգնացող ազդանշանների ֆոնին այն դեպքում, երբ ԵՄ-ի որոշ առաջնորդներ պատրաստակամություն են դրսեւորում համագործակցելու Մոսկվայի հետ մի շարք տնտեսական, ինչպես նաեւ   (պատժամիջոցների հետ) չկապված քաղաքական հարցերով», - ասված է հոդվածում:

Թերթը որպես դրա հաստատում նշում է Եվրահանձնաժողովի նախագահ Ժան-Կլոդ Յունկերի եւ Իտալիայի վարչապետ Մատտեո Ռենցիի առաջիկա ուղեւորությունը Պետերբուրգի միջազգային տնտեսական ֆորումին մասնակցելու, ինչպես նաեւ Ֆրանսիայի սենատի կողմից ձայների ճնշող մեծամասնությամբ բանաձեւի ընդունումը Ռուսաստանի նկատմամբ պատժամիջոցների աստիճանական վերացման վերաբերյալ:
