Դեմոկրատական կուսակցության անդամները հունիսի 15-ին փաստորեն արգելափակել են ԱՄՆ-ի Կոնգրեսի Սենատի աշխատանքը՝ իրենց հանրապետական գործընկերներից պահանջելով հնարավորինս արագ քննարկել օրինագիծը, որն արգելում Է զենքի վաճառքն այն անձանց, որոնց կասկածում են ահաբեկչական գործունեության հետ առնչության մեջ: Պալատի նիստը շարունակվում Է արդեն ավելի քան 13 ժամ, տեղեկացնում Է «Արմենպրես»-ը: 

Ցերեկը դեմոկրատ սենատոր Քրիս Մերֆին հայտարարել Է, որ ինքը ելույթ կունենա այնքան ժամանակ, քանի դեռ Սենատը չի քննարկի սույն նախաձեռնությունը: Կանոնակարգը նրան թույլ Է տալիս ամբիոնն զբաղեցնել այնքան ժամանակ, որքան ինքը հարկավոր կհամարի: «Ես պատրաստ եմ նիստերի դահլիճում գտնվել եւ խոսել այն բանի անհրաժեշտության մասին, որ այս օրենսդիր մարմնի անդամները միավորվեն եւ սահմանափակեն ահաբեկիչների՝ զենք ձեռք բերելու հնարավորությունը»,- ասել Է Մերֆին: Նա մտադիր Է ելույթ ունենալ «այնքան երկար, որքան որ կկարողանա»:
