Սիրիայում եւ Իրաքում գործում են «Իսլամական պետություն» ահաբեկչական խմբավորման 18 հազարից մինչեւ 22 հազար զինյալներ: Ինչպես տեղեկացնում է «Արմենպրես»-ը, այս տվյալները հունիսի 16-ին ներկայացրել է ԱՄՆ-ի Կենտրոնական հետախուզական վարչության տնօրեն Ջոն Բրենանը:

Ելույթ ունենալով ԱՄՆ-ի Կոնգրեսի Սենատի հետախուզության հատուկ կոմիտեում՝ նա հայտարարել է, թե, «մեր գնահատումների համաձայն՝ այժմ Սիրիայի եւ Իրաքի շրջանում գտնվում են 18-22 հազար զինյալներ»: Լավ նորությունն այն է, որ այս թիվը «զգալիորեն ավելի փոքր է» անցյալ տարի ամերիկյան հատուկ ծառայությունների կողմից արձանագրված թվաքանակից, ընդգծել է գերատեսչության ղեկավարը:

Նա պարզաբանել է, որ անցած տարի Իրաքում եւ Սիրիայում, ամերիկյան պատկան մարմինների հաշվարկների համաձայն, գործում էին ԻՊ-ի շարքերի մեջ մտնող մինչեւ 33 հազար արմատական տարրեր:

Խոսելով այլ տարածաշրջանների մասին, որտեղ գործում են ԻՊ-ի ցանցի զինյալները, Բրենանը հայտնել է, որ Լիբիայում նրանք 5-8 հազար են, Եգիպտոսում՝ «մի քանի հարյուր, եթե ոչ հազարից ավելի, Եմենում՝ մի քանի հարյուր, Աֆղանստանում եւ Պակիստանում՝ հարյուրավորներ, Նիգերիայում՝ ներկա փուլում, ըստ երեւույթին, 7 հազար կամ մոտ այդքան»:

Անդրադառնալով Սիրիային՝ ԱՄՆ-ի հանգուցային հետախուզական մարմնի ղեկավարը նշել է, որ արաբական այդ երկրում ակտիվ է նաեւ «Ջեբհաթ ան Նուսրա» ահաբեկչական խմբավորումը: Այն Բրենանը բնութագրել է որպես «Ալ Քաիդա Սիրիայում»: Այն Սիրիայում ունի «մի քանի հազար զինյալներ, որոնց մի մասը մասնակցում է նախագահ Ասադի դեմ ռազմական գործողություններին, իսկ մյուս մասը ահաբեկչական հարձակումների կատարման դավեր է նյութում» այլ երկրներում ու տարածաշրջաններում, հավելել է ԿՀՎ-ի տնօրենը, հաղորդել է ՏԱՍՍ-ը:
