 Մարդու իրավունքների եվրոպական դատարանը մերժել է ընդունել Ադրբեջանի կառավարության բողոքը` կապված ադրբեջանցի իրավապաշտպան Ռասուլ Ջաֆարովի գործի հետ: Ինչպես հաղորդում է «Արմենպրես»-ը, այս մասին տեղեկացնում է ադրբեջանական Haqqin.az-ը: Այդպիսով, Ջաֆարովի գործով ՄԻԵԴ կայացրած վճիռն ուժի մեջ է մտել:

Ադրբեջանական դատարանը 2014 թվականի օգոստոսի 2-ին ձերբակալել էր Ջաֆարովին և այնուհետև դատապարտել 6.5 տարվա ազատազրկման տնտեսական հանցագործություններ իրականացնելու մեղադրանքով։ Ավելի ուշ, նրան ներում էր շնորհվել:

Մարդու իրավունքներ եվրոպական դատարանը 2016 թվականի մարտի 17-ին վճռել էր, որ խախտվել են Ջաֆարովի ազատությունն ու անձեռնմխելիությունը, անհատական բողոքարկում ներկայացնեելու իրավունքն ու սահմանափակվել է իրավունքների իրականացումը: Դատարանը վճռել է, որ այդ խախտումների ու Ռասուլի քրեական հետապնդման նպատակը եղել է նրան լռեցնելու և նրան իրավապաշտպան գործունեության համար պատժելու ցանկությունը։ ՄԻԵԴ որոշմամբ` Ադրբեջանի կառավարությունը պետք է Ջաֆարովին 25.000 եվրոյի չափով փոխհատուցում վճարի, և ևս 7.448 եվրո՝ նյութական վնասի դիմաց։
