Թուրքիայի նախագահ Ռեջեփ Թայիփ Էրդողանը Անգելա Մերկելին հայտնել է, թե գերմանացի պատգամավորներին թույլ կտա այցելել Թուրքիայի Ինջիրլիքի ռազմաբազա, եթե Գերմանիայի կառավարությունը հայտարարի, որ համաձայն չէ խորհրդարանի կողմից ընդունված Հայոց ցեղասպանությունը ճանաչող բանաձեւին։

Թուրքական Diken պարբերականի փոխանցմամբ՝ Ինջիրլիքի ռազմաբազա գերմանացի պատգամավորների  այցն արգելելը նոր լարվածություն է առաջացրել թուրք–գերմանական հարաբերություններում։ 

Թուրքիայի ԱԳ նախարարը փորձել է իրավիճակի լարվածությունը թուլացնել՝ հայտարարելով, թե գերմանացի զինվորական պատվիրակությունները կարող են այցելել Ինջիրլիքի ռազմաբազա, սակայն քաղաքացիական անձանց այցելությունը նպատակահարմար չէ։

Այս հայտարարությունը կատաղեցրել է գերմանացի պատգամավորներին ու Գերմանիայի պաշտպանության նախարարին։ Վերջինս հայտարարել է, թե իրենք անպայման գնալու են Ինջիրլիք եւ հանդիպեն գերմանացի զինվորականների հետ։

Նշվում է, որ լարվածությունը սկսվել է ՆԱՏՕ–ի համաժողովի շրջանակներում Մերկել–Էրդողան հանդիպման ժամանակ, երբ Էրդողանը հայտարարել է, թե թույլ կտա գերմանացի պատգամավորներին այցելել Ինջիրլիքի ռազմաբազա, եթե Գերմանիայի կառավարությունը հայտարարի, թե համաձայն չէ  Հայոց ցեղասպանությունը ճանաչող Բունդեսթագի ընդունած բանաձեւի հետ։ Գերմանիայի կանցլեր Անգելա Մերկելը մերժել է Էրդողանին՝ ասելով, որ Բունդեսթագի որոշման դեմ կառավարությունը հայտարարություն չի անի։
