Անգլիայի Պրեմիեր լիգայի 2016-17թթ․ խաղաշրջանը մեկնարկեց «Հալ Սիթի»-«Լեսթեր Սիթի» խաղով։

«Քինգսթոն Քոմունիքեյշն» մարզադաշտում կայացած հանդիպման առաջին կեսում «աղվեսներն» ունեին որոշակի առավելություն, սակայն Ջեյմի Վարդիի և Ռիյադ Մարեզի հարվածները նպատակին չհասան։ Փոխարենը խաղակեսի վերջնամասում դաշտի տերերին հաջողվեց գոլ խփել․ աչքի ընկավ Ադամա Դյոմանդեն։

Երկրորդ խաղակեսի մեկնարկում՝ 47-րդ րոպեին, Ռիյադ Մարեզը վերականգնեց հաշվի հավասարությունը՝ դիպուկ իրացնելով Էլդին Յակուպովիչի դարպասին նշանակված 11-մետրանոց հարվածը։
