Փոլ Մանաֆորթը, որը ղեկավարում էր Հանրապետական կուսակցությունից ԱՄՆ նախագահի թեկնածու Դոնալդ Թրամփի նախընտրական շտաբը, հրաժարական է տվել, հայտնում է BBC-ն:

Թրամփի նախընտրական շտաբի ղեկավարն այս շաբաթ հայտնվել է սկանդալի կենտրոնում՝ կապված Ուկրաինայի նախկին նախագահ Վիկտոր Յաուկովիչի կուսակցությունից անօրինական վճարումներ ստանալու մեղադրանքի հետ:

«Այս առավոտ Փոլ Մանաֆորթն առաջարկել է իրեն ազատել ընտրարշավին մասնակցելուց, և ես ընդունել եմ նրա խնդրանքը: Ես շատ շնորհակալ եմ նրանից կատարած մեծ աշխատանքի համար, հատկապես կուսակցական համագումարի պատգամավորների հետ: Փոլը իսկական արհեստավարժ է, և ես նրան ցանկանում եմ հաջողություններ»,- ասել է Թրամփը:

Սկանդալը սկսվել է New York Times-ում հոդվածի հրապարակումից հետո, որտեղ ասված է, որ Մանաֆորթը եղել է Ուկրաինայի նախկին նախագահ Վիկտոր Յանուկովիչի հիմնական խորհրդատուներից մեկը: Պարբերականի տեղեկատվությամբ՝ Ուկրաինայի Ռեգիոնների կուսակցության «գլխավոր մատյանում» գրառումներ են գտնվել այն մասին, որ 2007-2012 թվականներին Փոլ Մանաֆորթին փոխանցվել է չգրանցված կանխիկ վճարումներ 12.7 միլիոն դոլարի չափով:
