Չինաստանը հայտարարել է Ֆիլիպինների հետ հարաբերություններն ամրապնդելու պատրաստակամության մասին, հայտնել է Չինաստանի արտգործնախարարության պաշտոնական ներկայացուցիչ Հուա Չունյին: ՏԱՍՍ-ի փոխանցմամբ՝ լրագրողների խնդրանքով նա այսպես է մեկնաբանել ԱՄՆ նախագահ Բարաք Օբամայի որոշումը՝ իրեն վիրավորած Ֆիլիպինների նախագահ Ռոդրիգո Դուտերտեի չհանդիպելու մասին:

«Ֆիլիպինները Չինաստանի երկարամյա հարեւանն է: Մենք հույս ունենք բարելավել չին-ֆիլիպինյան հարաբերությունները եւ հավատում ենք, որ դա համապատասխանում է երկու երկրների ժողովուրդների ձգտումներին: Չինաստանը պատրաստ է հարաբերությունների համատեղ բարելավման նպատակով Ֆիլիպինների հետ երկխոսության աջակցմանը»,- ասել է դիվանագետը:

Երկուշաբթի օրը Դուտերտեն հայտարարելով, որ չի ցանկանում Օբամայից դասեր լսել մարդու իրավունքների պահպանման վերաբերյալ՝ նրան պոռնիկի որդի էր անվանել: «Ես ինքնիշխան պետության ղեկավար եմ, եւ վաղուց ենք դադարել գաղութ լինելուց: Իմ միակ հեղինակությունը ֆիլիպինցի ժողովուրդն է: Դուք պետք է հարգալից լինեք, այլ ոչ թե պարզապես հարցերով հարձակվեք: Putang ina, ես ձեզ կվիրավորեմ համաժողովի ժամանակ»,- հայտարարել էր Դուտերտեն: Putang ina տագալերենից թարգմանած նշանակում պոռնիկի զավակ:

Դրանից հետո Սպիտակ տունը չեղարկել է երկու նախագահների հանդիպումը, որը նախատեսված էր Լաոսում Հարավարեւելյան Ասիայի երկրների միության գագաթնաժողովի շրջանակում: Երեքշաբթի օրը Դուտերտեն հայտարարել է, որ իր բառերի համար զղջում է:
