Հանուն Աստծու սպանությունը «սատանայական արարք է»: Այդ մասին հայտնել է Հռոմի Պապը հուլիսին ֆրանսիական Ռուանի մոտակայքում սպանված հոգեւորական Ժակ Ամելին  նվիրված պատարագի ընթացքում: 

«Որքան կուզեի, որ բոլոր կրոններն ասեին. անուն Աստծու սպանելը սատանայական արարք է», — պատարագի ընթացքում ասել է քահանայապետը, հայտնում է «ՌԻԱ Նովոստին»: «Այսօր եկեղեցում ավելի շատ քրիստոնյա տառապյալներ կան, քան առաջին օրերին: Այսօր կան սպանված, տանջահար արված, բանտարկված քրիստոնյաներ, որովհետեւ նրանք չեն հրաժարվել Հիսուս Քրիստոսից:  Եվ հայր Ժակը տառապյալների այդ շղթայի մաս դարձավ», — աել է Ֆրանցիսկոսը: «Նա եւս իր կյանքը զոհեց հանուն մեզ եւ չհրաժարվեց Հիսուսից», — հավելել է Հռոմի կաթոլիկ եկեղեցու առաջնորդը:  «Դա քաջության օրինակ է: Մենք պետք է աղոթենք նրա համար, նա տառապյալ է, իսկ բոլոր տառապյալները երանելի են», — ամփոփել է Ֆրանցիսկոսը:

Հուլիսի 26-ի առավոտյան դանակներով զինված երկու տղամարդ առավոտյան պատարագի ընթացքում վեց մարդու են գերի վերցրել Սենտ-Էտյեն-դյու-Ռուվրե եկեղեցում` հոգեւորականին, եկեղեցու երեք սպասավորի եւ երկու հավատացյալի:   Շուտով շենքից դուրս վազած հանցագործները տեղում գնդակահարվել են: Եկեղեցում հայտնաբերվել է 85-ամյա հոգեւորական Ժակ Ամելի մարմինը, որի կոկորդը կտրել էին:
