Տոնակատարությունները նաև լավ առիթ են հետ նայելու և համեմատություններ կատարելու համար: ՀՀ ԳԱԱ պատմության ինստիտուտի տնօրեն Աշոտ Մելքոնյանն Orer.am-ի հետ զույցում նշեց, որ չնայած տոնական օրերին ընդունված չէ քննադատական խոսքեր հնչեցնել, բայց բացերի մասին պետք է մշտապես խոսել:

Նրա կարծիքով՝ հայոց պետականության հիմքերը դրվել են դեռևս Քրիստոսից առաջ 3-րդ հազարամյակում, իսկ 25 տարի առաջ մենք վերաանկախացել ենք:

«1918-1920թթ. մենք դարձյալ ունեցել են անկախ պետականություն, և այդ ամբողջը պետք է դիտարկել մեկ ընդհանուր շղթայի մեջ: Դրանից հետո մենք ունեցել ենք նաև խորհրդային հանրապետություն, որն անկախ չէր, բայց հստակ ունեցել է պետականություն: Դրա դրսևորումներից մեկն այն է, որ ունեցել ենք 600-1200 մեծ և փոքր արդյունաբերական ձեռնարկություն, որոնց արտադրանքն արտահանվել է աշխարհի 60-80 երկիր: Սա պետականության դրսևորում է, բայց հիմա, ինչ վերաբերում է ազգային պետականությանը, մենք անկախություն ձեռք բերեցինք, սակայն, ցավոք սրտի, իմ պատկերացմամբ կատարյալ ազգային անկախ պետականություն մենք չունենք: Եվ մեր այսօրվա խնդիրն ազգային պետականության վերականգնումն է: Կարևոր է, որ իներցիայի ուժով կարողանանք հասկանալ, որ բոլոր հանրապետություններն էլ իրենց մեջ ներառում են առաջին հանրապետությունը: Թեև դրանք իրարից շատ տարբեր էին, սակայն դրանք պետականություն էին, որոնք իրենց հետ բերեցին պետական մտածողություն, որի ղեկավարներն այն սահուն ձևով փոխանցեցին մեր այս հանրապետությանը: Եվ թող ոչ ոք չզարմանա, թե ինչու հաղթեցինք 1991-1994թթ. Արցախյան պատերազմում, քանի որ մեզանում պետական մտածողությունը իրենց իներցիոն ուժով հասել էր մինչև այդ օրերը: Ես կարծում եմ, որ մեր առաջիկա խնդիրը պետք է դառնա այս անիծյալ արտագաղթի կանխումը: Ընդհակառակը, պետք է ներգաղթ լինի, որպեսզի ազգային պետականությունը կատարյալ իմաստով կարողանանք վերականգնել: Իհարկե, Հայոց ազգային բանակը անկախության խորհդանիշն է, բայց դրա կողքին չպետք է լինեն համատարած «անապատներ»: Դրա փոխարեն այն պետք է կանաչ դաշտերի վերածել, որպեսզի մենք մեր անկախ պետականությունը կարողանանք լիարժեք վայելել»,- ասաց Ա. Մելքոնյանը:
