Դիրիժոր, կոմպոզիտոր Լորիս Ճգնավորյանն այսօր կդառնար 79 տարեկան:

Լորիս Ճգնավորյանը ծնվել է 1937թ. հոկտեմբերի 13-ին, Իրանի Բորուջերդ քաղաքում: 1950-54թթ սովորել է Թեհրանի կոնսերվատորիայի ջութակի բաժնում: 1961թ. ավարտել է Վիեննայի երաժշտական ակադեմիայի ջութակի և կոմպոզիցիայի բաժինները: 1963-64թթ կատարելագործվել է Զալցբուրգի Մոցարտեումում՝ Կառլ Օրֆի մոտ, 1965-66թթ՝ Միչիգանի համալսարանի դիրիժորական բաժնում: 1970-75թթ եղել է Իրանի մշակույթի նախարարության ժողովրդական երաժշտության արխիվի տնօրենը և ներկայացուցիչ-կոմպոզիտոր, օպերային թատրոնի գլխավոր դիրիժորը, Փեհլևի մշակութային հիմնադրամի գլխավոր երաժշտական տնօրենը: 1975թ-ից ապրել և աշխատել է Վիեննայում, Նյու Յորքում, Լոնդոնում: 1978թ. Լոնդոնում հիմնել է Հայ երաժշտության ինստիտուտը: 1989թ-ից գործունեություն է ծավալել Հայաստանում: 1989-98թթ և 1999-2000թթ եղել է Հայաստանի ֆիլհարմոնիկ նվագախմբի գեղարվեստական ղեկավարն ու գլխավոր դիրիժորը: 1991-ին Գյումրի կատարած ուխտագնացության ժամանակ հիմնել է Գյումրու մշակութային կենտրոնը, նույն թվականին Երևանում՝ Երիտասարդական սիմֆոնիկ նվագախումբը, 1994թ.՝ Հայաստանի ֆիլհարմոնիկ երգչախումբը: Հայաստանի անկախության օրերին կազմակերպել է «Այո Անկախությանը» անվանումով ﬔ ծ համերգ` ի նպաստ ժողովրդի կողմից անկախության ճանաչմանը:

 Համերգային շրջագայություններով եղել է Եվրոպայում, ԱՄՆ-ում, Հյուսիսային և Հարավային Ամերիկաներում: Իրականացրել է մի շարք ձայնագրություններ, որոնք արժանացել են քննադատների դրական արձագանքին, ղեկավարել է աշխարհի մի շարք առաջատար նվագախմբեր, ինչպիսիք են Լոնդոնի սիմֆոնիկ նվագախումբը, Վիեննայի պետական օպերայի նվագախումբը և այլն: Հեղինակել է ավելի քան 70 ստեղծագործություն, ներառյալ «Աղավնու վանքը» (1961թ.), «Ռոստամ և Զոհրաբ» (1962-64թթ), «Փարդիս և Փարիսա» (1972թ.) օպերաները, «Ֆանտաստիկ» (1958-61թթ), «Սիմորգ» (1975թ.), «Օթել լո» (1984թ.) բալետները, օրատորիաներ, 5 սիմֆոնիա, կոնցերտներ, նվագախմբային սյուիտներ, խմբերգեր, կինոերաժշտություն և այլն: Կազմակերպել է սիմֆոնիկ երաժշտության մի շարք փառատոներ («Աշխարհը և մենք», «Արամ Խաչատրյան-90», «Եղեռնից մինչև անկախություն...»), «Հոգևոր երաժշտության ժամ» համերգաշարը և այլն: 2008թ. պարգևատրվել է Ավստրիայի նախագահի սահմանած ոսկե մեդալով: 2010թ-ից ԱՄՆ-ի Քալիֆորնիա նահանգի Գլենդել քաղաքի սիմֆոնիկ նվագախմբի գեղարվեստական ղեկավարն ու գլխավոր դիրիժորն է: Պարգևատրվել է բազմաթիվ պետական շքանշաններով, մրցանա կներով: 1971թ. արժանացել է Իրանի «Հոմայուն», 1978թ.՝ Հայ եկեղեցու «Սուրբ Սահակ-Սուրբ Մեսրոպ» շքանշանների, 1991թ.՝ Երևանի պատվավոր քաղաքացու կոչման, 1996թ.՝ ՀՀ «Մովսես Խորենացի», 2012թ.՝ ՀՀ «Հայրենիքին մատուցած ծառայությունների համար» 1-ին կարգի մեդալների:
